Matthew McConaughey trademarks iconic phrase to stop AI misuse
Oscar-winner Matthew McConaughey has trademarked his image and voice to protect them from unauthorised use by artificial intelligence (AI) platforms. Clips including his famous catchphrase alright, alright, alright from the 1993 film, Dazed and Confused, have been registered to the United States Patent and Trademark Office database, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports. It is the first time an actor has attempted to use trademark law to protect their likeness from AI misuse, his lawyers and an expert said. Stars across Hollywood and the music industry including Scarlett Johansson and Taylor Swift have endured a wave of fake video, audio and images online, created by AI tools. Lawyers for the Magic Mike star told the WSJ they had no current examples of McConaughey's likeness being manipulated by AI, but hoped the trademarks could be used broadly against any unauthorised copies of him.

Inside the Star-Studded, Mob-Run Poker Games That Allegedly Steal Millions From Players
NBA stars, mobsters, and marks with fat wallets are all part of an alleged ring of rigged poker games. Here's how these games are assembled, who attends, and how the purported cheating happens. Former NBA player and Portland Trail Blazers head coach Chauncey Billups (center) exits the Mark O. Hatfield United States Courthouse after his arraignment on October 23, 2025, in Portland, Oregon. To the uninitiated, the arrests of Chauncey Billups and Damon Jones last week for allegations of involvement in rigged illegal poker games may have appeared like an unusual collision of worlds. How could prosecutors claim that former NBA players (one a current coach), professional gamblers, and even mafia members all ended up rubbing elbows as part of the same high-tech cheating scheme that allegedly began in 2019 and ran for several years?

Tokyo police believe the man made about 20,000 sexually explicit images of 262 women, such as actors and idols, and amassed sales of ¥1.2 million between October last year and September this year. Tokyo police have arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly creating fake sexual images of female celebrities with generative artificial intelligence technology and displaying them online, it was learned Thursday. It is the first time that police in Japan have cracked down on sexual deepfake images of celebrities created with generative AI. The suspect, Hiroya Yokoi of the city of Akita, has admitted he began making deepfakes to earn a small amount of money, which he used to cover living expenses and repay a student loan. Authorities believe Yokoi made a total of about 20,000 sexually explicit images of 262 women, such as actors, television personalities and idols, and amassed sales of ¥1.2 million between October last year and September this year.

Celebrity Profiling on Short Urdu Text using Twitter Followers' Feed
Hamza, Muhammad, Jafar, Rizwan
Social media has become an essential part of the digital age, serving as a platform for communication, interaction, and information sharing. Celebrities are among the most active users and often reveal aspects of their personal and professional lives through online posts. Platforms such as Twitter provide an opportunity to analyze language and behavior for understanding demographic and social patterns. Since followers frequently share linguistic traits and interests with the celebrities they follow, textual data from followers can be used to predict celebrity demographics. However, most existing research in this field has focused on English and other high-resource languages, leaving Urdu largely unexplored. This study applies modern machine learning and deep learning techniques to the problem of celebrity profiling in Urdu. A dataset of short Urdu tweets from followers of subcontinent celebrities was collected and preprocessed. Multiple algorithms were trained and compared, including Logistic Regression, Support Vector Machines, Random Forests, Convolutional Neural Networks, and Long Short-Term Memory networks. The models were evaluated using accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and cumulative rank (cRank). The best performance was achieved for gender prediction with a cRank of 0.65 and an accuracy of 0.65, followed by moderate results for age, profession, and fame prediction. These results demonstrate that follower-based linguistic features can be effectively leveraged using machine learning and neural approaches for demographic prediction in Urdu, a low-resource language.
