Scientists reveal how long YOU should walk to boost brain power

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg reportedly loves conducting meetings while walking, and so did Apple founder Steve Jobs - and scientists have shown that they were right on target. Just 20 minutes of walking can prepare the brain to take in and retain new information, neuroscience research has shown. These positive effects can be seen in areas of the brain involved in making decisions, managing stress, and planning our behavior. Other forms of exercise have their own benefits on brain health, too, but this research determined that it doesn't take much to boost your brain power - and a little bit of walking is much better than no exercise at all. 'The Good Place': Why Michael Schur Cast D'Arcy Carden On The Show

International Business Times

Several actors of different ages, ethnicities, genders, sizes and shapes auditioned for the role of Janet on NBC's "The Good Place." But when D'Arcy Carden showed up to try out for the role, series creator Michael Schur knew right away that he'd already found his Janet. "She made the robotic language that I had written for the dummy scene seemed like a real person was doing it," Schur told Vanity Fair of why he picked Carden to play the sentient database. "She found this weird humanity inside this robotic scene." Carden told Vulture last October that her "The Good Place" audition was unlike any audition she had done before.

'The Good Place': D'Arcy Carden Says Playing Janet Was Initially A Struggle

D'Arcy Carden admitted that playing the first incarnation of Janet on the NBC comedy "The Good Place" was not easy. Every line you say and every line your scene partner says, the point is reacting to it, but when your character doesn't react, it's a weird struggle," Carden told Variety of the main challenge she faced when portraying the early version of her character. "I talked about it with [series creator] Mike [Schur] a lot, and he's amazing and so collaborative, and it was very helpful to figure it out together." After figuring out the right balance between human and robot, Carden said that playing Janet started to feel so natural for her. "Now, I feel like I know her so well: She is me, I am her," Carden told Elle last September. In an interview with Collider last January, Carden revealed that the "first season was more challenging" for her and "coming back for the second season felt more like home." "I was like, 'Oh, I know this character!

'The Good Place' Star D'Arcy Carden Admits She Had A Hard Time Playing Janet In The Beginning

International Business Times

D'Arcy Carden revealed that it took her a while before she finally figured out the perfect treatment for her "The Good Place" character, Janet. During a chat at the backstage of EW PopFest last weekend, Carden admitted that she struggled at first in portraying her Siri-like role on the NBC comedy series. "It was hard in the beginning because she's very non-judgmental and she doesn't have emotions; she's mimicking what a human would do, so there was a lot of pulling back on my part," the comedienne explained. "I was talking to [series co-creator] Michael Schur like'I don't know if I'm getting this [right], I don't know if I'm being the robot that you envisioned.'" Although Schur had a clear picture of what Janet should be like, Carden told Entertainment Weekly last month that the two-time Emmy winner let her play different versions of Janet until they figured out together who she really is as a character.
