AI Is Eliminating Jobs for Younger Workers
Economists at Stanford University have found the strongest evidence yet that artificial intelligence is starting to eliminate certain jobs. But the story isn't that simple: While younger workers are being replaced by AI in some industries, more experienced workers are seeing new opportunities emerge. Erik Brynjolfsson, a professor at Stanford University, Ruyu Chen, a research scientist, and Bharat Chandar, a postgraduate student, examined data from ADP, the largest payroll provider in the US, from late 2022, when ChatGPT debuted, to mid-2025. The researchers discovered several strong signals in the data--most notably that the adoption of generative AI coincided with a decrease in job opportunities for younger workers in sectors previously identified as particularly vulnerable to AI-powered automation (think customer service and software development). In these industries, they found a 16 percent decline in employment for workers aged 22 to 25.
Bills recruit NBA legend Allen Iverson for creative NFL schedule release
The Buffalo Bills signed Joey Bosa to a 1-year, 12 million contract. Craig Carton, Danny Parkins and Mark Schlereth discuss Bosa's potential impact on the Bills and why his availability could be a concern. NFL schedule release videos are always fun to see each year, and the Buffalo Bills are always among the teams thinking outside the box. This year, the Bills had the ultimate play on words when their video began with general manager Brandon Beane calling MVP quarterback Josh Allen, asking if he had any ideas for how to release the schedule. "Just use AI," Allen told Beane.
ChatGBT Shows Scary Implications Of AI: Sports Owners And The Robot
Everyone is talking about the latest AI project, Chat GBT, and the responses have ranged from excitement to terror. In fact, Chat GBT has become such a cultural phenomenon that the site is operating at overcapacity, and you can't even get on right now. Kind of like when you call the airline and they ask for your number and say they will text you when you are next in line. In the meantime, AI is already impacting various industries but none more visible or game changing than the sports business. The reason is that predicting future outcomes are essential to everything in sports.
Robots? Some Companies Find Only Humans Can Do the Job
Companies have been trying out automatons to serve food in restaurants, make home deliveries or do chores in stores, partly in hopes of easing the worker shortage. Among the disenchanted, FedEx Corp. said last month it was powering down Roxo, its last-mile delivery robot, to prioritize several "nearer-term opportunities," a spokeswoman said. Inc. said it was ending field tests of Scout, its home-delivery robot, after learning that some aspects of its "unique delivery experience" weren't "meeting customers' needs," a company spokeswoman said. And over the summer, DoorDash Inc. said it was shutting down its Chowbotics business -- best known for Sally, the salad-making robot -- roughly 18 months after buying it. "While we gained valuable insights into how to better serve this market, we concluded our current approach was not meeting our very high thresholds for continued investment," a DoorDash spokesman said.
Serve Food in Far-Away Restaurants--Right From Your Couch
David Tejeda helps deliver food and drinks to tables at a small restaurant in Dallas. Sometimes he lends a hand at a restaurant in Los Angeles too. Tejeda does all this from his home in Belmont, California, by tracking the movements and vital signs of robots that roam around each establishment, bringing dishes from kitchen to table, and carrying back dirty dishes. Sometimes he needs to help a lost robot reorient itself. "Sometimes it's human error, someone moving the robot or something," Tejeda says.

Top TED Talks on AI And Machine Learning: 2019 Edition
Since its conceptualisation in 1983, TED Talks have been the go-to platform for people from all walks of life to share their idea and thoughts. Over the last three decades, the platform has witnessed some of the finest speakers capture the imagination of their audience with absolute exuberance. In this article, Analytics India Magazine takes a look at some of the most interesting talks that revolve around emerging tech like artificial intelligence and machine learning. Published in November 2018, Matt Beane, assistant professor of Technology Management at the University of California, addresses the most common fear associated with AI -- machines taking over human jobs. Beane, however, challenges this notion and says that instead of handling the technology carelessly and letting it be a hindrance for getting newer jobs, the potential of the technology can be used in such a way that machine enhanced mentorship to " take full advantage of AI's amazing capabilities while enhancing our skills at the same time."
Med Students Are Getting Terrible Training in Robotic Surgery
If you think your on-the-job training was tough, imagine what life is like for newbie surgeons. Under the supervision of a veteran doctor, known as an attending, trainees help operate on a real live human, who might have a spouse and kids--and, if something goes awry, a very angry lawyer. Now add to the mix the da Vinci robotic surgery system, which operators control from across the room, precisely guiding instruments from a specially-designed console. In traditional surgery, the resident gets hands-on action, holding back tissue, for instance. Robotic systems might have two control consoles, but attendings rarely grant residents simultaneous control.
