How much intelligence is there in Artificial Intelligence?

#artificialintelligence

Claire Stevenson started her academic career in the field of developmental psychology, where she researched children's learning potential: 'so not what they already know, but what they are capable of.' She examined the development of analogical reasoning in children, i.e. their ability to find solutions to new problems based on relationships with familiar ones. 'For example, children were asked to complete the sequence: thirst is to drinking as bleeding is to bandage, wound, cutting, water or food? If you want to find the right answer, you need to apply the relationship between thirst and drinking to bleeding, instead of using familiar associations like wound or cutting.' Analogical reasoning is considered the greatest strength of human intelligence. Later on in her career, Stevenson switched to the Psychological Methods programme group, where she became fascinated by the idea of applying mathematical models to measure creative processes.

How To Revive Players (And Not Get Killed) In 'Fortnite: Battle Royale'

Forbes - Tech

Next week's Fortnite Battle Pass challenges have leaked online. Reviving players is my favorite new challenge in Fortnite: Battle Royale. It replaced'Watch A Replay' as one of this week's challenges, and it's honestly kind of essential to 50v50's meta. In normal 50v50 play, you almost never get revived by another player. When it happens, you feel lucky.

Don't Let Artificial Intelligence Supercharge Bad Processes

#artificialintelligence

When artificial intelligence is used to expedite certain legacy processes, it can act more like a Band-Aid than a cure. Scenarios describing the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) seem to gravitate toward hyperbole. In wonderful scenarios, AI enables nirvanas of instant optimal processes and prescient humanoids. In doomsday scenarios, algorithms go rogue and humans are superfluous, at best, and, at worst, subservient to the new silicon masters. However, both of these scenarios require a sophistication that, at least right now, seems far away.

What is minimally invasive surgery? Some argue that this benign-sounding concept just transfers the pain of the operation from the patient to the surgeon. Others can't even agree on a definition of the term, believing that any procedure that causes less morbidity is by nature minimally invasive. I think that the definition question at least should be left up to the patient. When the person who will have to undergo the procedure asks, "Do I have to?" it's a good bet you're talking about something invasive.

The smart bandage that turns yellow to provide an early warning of wound infections

Bandages that glow bright yellow if the wound underneath has been infected have been developed by British scientists. The AI that gives you a voice: Lip-reading machine... Peering beneath the bandages: 3D scans of four mummies could reveal new insights into their lives and deaths

Daily Mail - Science & tech

Archaeologists and doctors in Spain are have used 3D-scanning technology to peer beneath the bandages of four ancient mummies. The specimens of three Egyptians and one Guanche – the aboriginal people who lived in the Canary Islands – were taken from the National Archaeological Museum, in Madrid. By using the scanning technology, the experts hope to be able to find out more about how the individuals lived, what killed them and the funeral rituals they underwent when they were buried.
