This innovative "skinware" technology provides crucial accessibility for individuals with limited mobility, with over 100 users already utilizing it daily. Each MouthPad requires a dental scan for custom fitting and offers an effective alternative to traditional mouse control methods. Augmental, a company that builds ("body-coupled interfaces that let people control computers, communicate, and interact with AI without relying on their hands"), is now selling a tongue-controlled computer mouse called MouthPad . The Bluetooth device is a specially designed pad that's worn over the upper teeth.

Soon you may be able to log your groceries using only your mouth, thanks to a smart retainer developed at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The device, MouthPad, connects to smartphones or computers via Bluetooth, and allows the user to select buttons by sweeping their tongue across a trackpad chip. They can left click by pressing it, and right click by making a'sip' gesture. The team from startup Augmental, a spinoff from MIT Media Lab, hope their invention will help those with impaired hand control to live more independently.
