I'm a neuroscientist and would NEVER use ChatGPT. I've seen what this 'essential' tool does to brains - both young and old. These are the tests you can do today to see if you're already affected
With millions using OpenAI's ChatGPT app daily to make life'easier', experts have issued a warning about the risks it may have on the brain. Cognitive neuroscientist and author Dr Jared Cooney Horvath never uses ChatGPT - and recommends others do the same because the risks outweigh the benefits. While the possibilities of the AI chatbot seem endless, it's giving rise to'digital dependence' as people will'no longer have the skill or knowledge' to complete the task themselves. Dr Horvath, the 42-year-old creator of The Learning Blueprint metacognition program, told Daily Mail that ChatGPT could kill your memory, fracture your attention span and wreck your creativity over time. 'Everything we know about how these tools work suggests that they're not going to be good in the long term,' he said.

'Don't ask what AI can do for us, ask what it is doing to us': are ChatGPT and co harming human intelligence?
Imagine for a moment you are a child in 1941, sitting the common entrance exam for public schools with nothing but a pencil and paper. You read the following: "Write, for no more than a quarter of an hour, about a British author." Today, most of us wouldn't need 15 minutes to ponder such a question. We'd get the answer instantly by turning to AI tools such as Google Gemini, ChatGPT or Siri. Offloading cognitive effort to artificial intelligence has become second nature, but with mounting evidence that human intelligence is declining, some experts fear this impulse is driving the trend.

Chat-GPT: An AI Based Educational Revolution
Maric, Sasa, Maric, Sonja, Maric, Lana
The AI revolution is gathering momentum at an unprecedented rate. Over the past decade, we have witnessed a seemingly inevitable integration of AI in every facet of our lives. Much has been written about the potential revolutionary impact of AI in education. AI has the potential to completely revolutionise the educational landscape as we could see entire courses and degrees developed by programs such as ChatGPT. AI has the potential to develop courses, set assignments, grade and provide feedback to students much faster than a team of teachers. In addition, because of its dynamic nature, it has the potential to continuously improve its content. In certain fields such as computer science, where technology is continuously evolving, AI based applications can provide dynamically changing, relevant material to students. AI has the potential to replace entire degrees and may challenge the concept of higher education institutions. We could also see entire new disciplines emerge as a consequence of AI. This paper examines the practical impact of ChatGPT and why it is believed that its implementation is a critical step towards a new era of education. We investigate the impact that ChatGPT will have on learning, problem solving skills and cognitive ability of students. We examine the positives, negatives and many other aspects of AI and its applications throughout this paper.

SNL legend explains how short attention spans are having a direct impact on comedy
Legendary comedian and actor Kevin Nealon performed on "Saturday Night Live" for almost a decade, acting in some of the series' most iconic sketches. After 40 years in the business, he recently spoke with Fox News Digital about the current state of stand-up comedy and where he feels the industry is headed. Though the medium has evolved into something bigger than ever before, Nealon described the attention spans of modern comedy audiences as much shorter -- something that those involved in the business of humor have had to cater to. "When I started comedy, it was totally different. And it was a totally different time and generation. And it was not as much short attention span. Like, I look back at some of the sketches on'SNL,' and they're a lot longer than they are now because of the short attention span, and a lot of people don't watch'SNL' at that time. They watch it on YouTube, snippets of it," said the comedian, pointing to social media as something that's gotten hundreds of millions of people accustomed to consuming content in short clips and blurbs.
