The idea is to make Alexa more human, so she can help you control all your devices and get more done. The U.S. Alexa launch is set to happen over the next few weeks, and will start with the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21 devices. It can have more in-depth conversations, understand colloquial expressions and think through complex ideas.

Alexa will now tell you when items in your Amazon cart or wish list go on sale
Amazon's Alexa voice assistant will soon tell users when items they've had an eye on are about to be on sale. The company announced on Thursday that Alexa will notify Prime customers up to 24 hours in advance of upcoming sales on items in their Amazon wish list and shopping cart, or items that were marked "saved for later" on the platform. The feature will work with fourth-generation Echo smart speakers and newer. For example, if a customer is looking at a new TV and it's been sitting in a wish list, Alexa will give the consumer a heads-up that it will be on sale soon. The Amazon Echo ring will turn yellow when an item goes on sale, so a user knows to ask Alexa to read out their notifications.
Alexa can now tell you if your washing machine stops or water is running
Recently, Amazon introduced a feature that allowed Alexa to hear certain types of sounds, called Custom Sound Detection. Now, it's adding two new specific Alexa sound detectors for "water running" and "appliance beeping" that can be used to set up routines or reminders. It also rolled a number of other new features for things like prescription refills, ultrasound motion detection and more. It was already possible to have Alexa identify those two specific sounds, but the new update means you won't have to bother training it. With the new features, you can use the Alexa app to send a notification when the washer beeps to indicate your laundry is done.
