Apple-1 'Byte Shop' computer hand-numbered by Steve Jobs is up for sale at $240,000
A fully-functional Apple 1 computer has gone up for sale – and could be yours if you have a spare $241,000 (£196,000) lying around. The'amazing' machine, which is hand-numbered by Apple founder Steve Jobs, comes with'all components and accessories required for operation'. Bidding currently stands at $241,557 and ends on December 15 – but auctioneers are anticipating a final selling price of $375,000 (£305,000). Launched in 1976, Apple 1, the tech giant's first ever product, was sold as an assembled circuit board and lacked basic features such as a keyboard or monitor. The original Apple-1 board (pictured) is marked in the hand of Steve Jobs with stock number '01-00002' Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak made the Apple-1 computer in 1976 and presented it at a computer club in Palo Alto, although there were few takers. Paul Terrell, owner of retail chain called The Byte Shop, placed an order for 50 Apple-1s and sold them for $666.66 (£420) retail - once Wozniak and Jobs agreed to assemble the circuit boards rather than offer them as kits.

Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay pays $787,000 at auction for Apple II manual signed by Steve Jobs
Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay had the winning bid for a vintage Apple II manual signed and inscribed by Steve Jobs back in 1980. Irsay, who inherited the NFL team from his late father, Bob, in 1997, paid $787,484 for the spiral-bound user's guide, 9 to 5 Mac reported. The 8-bit Apple II was one of the first successful personal home computers, unveiled by Jobs and Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak at the 1977 West Coast Computer Faire. It was sold via online auction on Thursday, alongside a letter to a fan typed and signed by Jobs that went for $479,939, and an working Apple-1 computer that nabbed $464,876. The Apple-1 was discontinued in October 1977, with Jobs and Wozniak offering discounts and trade-ins for the more advanced Apple II.

Apple: Original 45-year-old computer with wooden case set to sell for £1.1 MILLION on eBay
An original Apple computer with a wooden case is up for sale for £1.1 million ($1.5 million) on eBay -- some 2,250 times more than its original price tag in 1976. The'Apple-1' was the first product to be developed under the Apple name by company co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and launched in 1976. Around 175 of 200 Apple-1 machines were sold in total, each carrying a price tag of $666.66 (equivalent to some $3,126 today.) The fully-functional model is being sold by Krishna Blake of the US, who purchased the machine in 1978, and comes with its manuals and a cassette interface. Also included in the sale is a period Sony TV-115, which was the monitor model originally recommended by Mr Jobs to use to display the computer's output.

A rare fully-functional Apple-1 Computer has sold for $458,711 when it went under the hammer at an auction in Boston this week. The Apple-1 was the first product to be developed under the Apple name by company co-founders Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak and launched in 1976. Alongside the pioneering product, the auction also saw the sale of the lifetime collection of Apple product design engineer Jerry Manock. The collection features a Macintosh PowerBook signed by Steve Jobs which sold for $12,671 (£10,284) and a neon Apple logo that went for $1,915 (£1,554). Meanwhile, a'think different' watch from the brand's famous ad campaign sold for $1,375 (£1,116).

A computer built in the 1970s that helped launch the personal computer age as well as a trillion-dollar company has sold for $375,000. The fully functioning Apple-1 auctioned by Boston-based RR Auction was sold at a live sale Tuesday. RR says the winning bid came from a U.S.-based businessman who wishes to remain anonymous. The computer is one of 60 or so remaining of the original 200 designed and built by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 and 1977, and one of 16 that still works. A piece of computer history that helped launch a trillion dollar company is hitting the auction block and is expected to fetch $300,000 (£230,500). A rare, fully-functioning Apple-1 being auctioned by Boston-based RR Auction in September is one of only 60 or so remaining computers from the original 200 made. The machines were designed and hand-built by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 and 1977 and originally sold for about $666 (£511) to local enthusiasts. The Apple-1 was restored to its original, operational state by expert Corey Cohen. The system operated without fault for approximately eight hours in a recent test and will even ship with its original keyboard designed and built during the 1970s.
