Anker's MindBase is a smart home hub, NAS and security guard

Engadget

Anker has turned up to IFA with MindBase, an AI-powered local home hub built to sit at the heart of your autonomous home. Essentially, it's a NAS with a 64GB SSD and two bays to hold either 2.5 or 3.5-inch hard drives, with its own AI compute built on top. Anker is selling it as a way to both run your smart home and store your family's treasured memories, and as a digital security guard. If you want MindBase to watch your home, then you'll need to invest in Anker's lineup of home security cameras. That includes the new Eufy Video Doorbell S4, Window Camera E10, Fall Detection Sensor or just its range of plain ol' pan-tilt-zoom cameras.

Anker debuts Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro earbuds with its Thus AI chip

Engadget

The Pro Max model offers a touchscreen smart case with an AI note taker. Following the initial tease of its Thus AI chip, Anker announced the first earbuds with the component during its Anker Day event. The Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro and Liberty 5 Pro Max both utilize the chip for what the company calls Whisper Clear voice performance. Of course, the usual earbud features are here -- active noise cancellation (ANC), voice controls and personalized sound -- but there are some unique tools available on these models as well. Those include an AI Note-Taker on the Liberty 5 Pro Max and touchscreen charging cases for both.

Innovation abounds in device charging

MIT Technology Review

No longer peripheral accessories, chargers today are more powerful, portable, and proactive. Consumers can look forward to rapid innovations in the coming years. The changes may be less perceptible than in smartphones, tablets, or wearables, but chargers have also been quietly reinvented over the last decade. At one time a bulky mix of tangled cables and connectors, slow to perform and prone to overheating, they're now smaller, safer, and faster, thanks to a slew of technological advances. These advances include a switch to gallium nitride (GaN), which has now usurped silicon as the preferred semiconductor, capable of handling higher voltages, faster switches, and more efficient conduction. Multi-port chargers, coupled with an industry-wide shift toward USB-C standardization, mean a single charger can handle multiple devices.

Soundcore Nebula P1i projector review: An affordable option with accurate color and loud sound

Engadget

Anker's P1i offers an easy setup, Google TV and fold out speakers, but lacks brightness. Anker's Soundcore projectors have become an attractive option for buyers thanks to models like the P1 and Nebula X1 that combine performance and portability. Now, the company has added affordability to that equation with its latest model, the $369 P1i . Instead of being detachable like on the P1, its speakers fold out toward listeners, promising better and louder sound than most cheap projectors. The P1i also delivers 1080p video, Google TV for streaming and the same easy screen fit setup as other Anker projectors.
