The 10 Top Sessions to Attend at Inspire 2023

#artificialintelligence

Transforming Business: Disruptive Innovation Join Andrew Mize, VP of Business Strategy and Initiatives at Bank of America as he explores how providing automation tools in business creates a self-serve data-based thinking environment. He will also explain how this environment fosters curiosity and inspiration and leads to disruptive innovation. From Laggard to Leader – Winning the AI Race Leading organizations have achieved over 60% more analytical value compared to laggards. Bharath Thota and Stuart Klein, Partners at Kearney Analytics, will explain why only 8% of companies extract significant value from analytics investments, and how to overcome the challenge of building a case for change and knowing where to start. Upskilling and Experimentation with AI/ML Presented by Jacqui Van Der Leij–Greyling, the Global Head of Tax Technology at eBay, this session will explain how eBay initiated an AI / ML Launch plan and trained 50 non-data scientists on building AI / ML use cases across the organization.

Data Science Software Popularity Update

#artificialintelligence

I have recently updated my extensive analysis of the popularity of data science software. This update covers perhaps the most important section, the one that measures popularity based on the number of job advertisements. I repeat it here as a blog post, so you don't have to read the entire article. One of the best ways to measure the popularity or market share of software for data science is to count the number of job advertisements that highlight knowledge of each as a requirement. Job ads are rich in information and are backed by money, so they are perhaps the best measure of how popular each software is now.

Data ethics? Not my problem, say 42% of UK data workers

#artificialintelligence

Companies that misuse personal data are hit with eye-watering fines and their reputation is tarnished – sometimes irreparably. Despite this, four in 10 UK-based employees working with data do not believe data ethics is relevant to their role, research has shown. Data ethics, as defined by Harvard Business School, deals with the moral obligations of gathering, protecting, and using personally identifiable information, and how it affects individuals. Essentially, anyone who handles data needs to be well-versed in the basic principles of data ethics. But a survey of 1,000 British employees working with data by analytics automation company Alteryx found 42% do not believe data ethics is their concern.

Why companies should democratize A.I. – Fortune

#artificialintelligence

This is the web version of Eye on A.I., Fortune's weekly newsletter covering artificial intelligence and business. To get it delivered weekly to your in-box, sign up here. Everyone can become a data scientist. That's the somewhat radical view of Alan Jacobson, the chief data and analytic officer at Alteryx, a company that sells data analytics software to many of the Fortune 500. Jacobson says that while he frequently hears executives complain about being unable to hire people with data science experience, let alone machine-learning skills, these executives are ignoring the amazing human resource already sitting inside their own organizations.

7 Tools Used By Data Scientists to Increase Efficiency

#artificialintelligence

During the progress of any data science project, most data scientists tend to utilize tools and gadgets that would help them reach their goals faster and more efficiently. They use these tools to speed up routine tasks to save their energy and brain-power to find solutions for the current problem they are trying to solve. Because of this desire to speed up a project's workflow, there are so many data science tools out there that you can choose from, whichever suits the task at hand. And believe me, when I say this, there are hundreds of tools you can choose to finish your project; at the end of the project, you will discover that you used multiple of these tools to finish one project. Since any data science project consists of different steps, from gathering and collecting data to clean it, analyzing, and visualizing it, there are tools designed and developed for each of these steps. Tools to automatically collect data for you from all over the web, or tools to visualize your data and help you tell the story hidden within, or tools to help you clean your data and use the most relevant part of it in your analysis.

Dataiku vs. Alteryx vs. Sagemaker vs. Datarobot vs. Databricks

#artificialintelligence

Code is only a small component of any machine learning solution. The goal of managed machine learning services is to centralize these components into a single packaged solution. But not all managed machine learning services are fully comparable. Tools like AWS Sagemaker help you manage the complexity inherent in any machine learning solution, but still expect you to have engineers on your team who can build and understand the code. These tools focus more on the compute layer.
