The Critics Must Be Crazy: 'Tomb Raider' Is A Great Video Game Movie
The film only earned $57 million domestically, but it still topped 2016's Assassin's Creed, which earned $54 million in the US with a $240 million cumulative box office. And here's the thing: Tomb Raider was really good. Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft is really good. It's one of the best video game movies I've ever seen, and if you missed it at the movie theater, you should definitely check it out from the comfort of your own home. "Best video game movie" is a fairly low bar, but I genuinely enjoyed Tomb Raider as a movie---not just as a video game movie. It certainly has more than a few similarities to the rebooted video game franchise.

Tomb Raider review – Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft is a badass bore
Dave Allen once said that men know they're getting older when they watch Sunset Boulevard and realise they find Gloria Swanson quite attractive. Similarly, a certain generation will sense the grim reaper's presence now that Angelina Jolie is no longer the screen face of Lara Croft, because the mantle has passed to Alicia Vikander. This Lara is notably more serious and sensitive, and unlike Angelina, or the figure in the 90s video game – or indeed Karen Gillan in the new Jumanji movie – she doesn't have to wear cute shorts or revealing clothes, which is fair enough. But she does an awful lot of very pathetic and borderline creepy daddy-daughter pining for that all-important man in her life. This guy is forever smiling wisely in soft focus flashback in the grounds of Croft Manor, which has the same totemic importance as Wayne Manor, always kissing the demure infant Lara's forehead or indeed brushing his fingers with his lips and touching her forehead (eeuuww) prior to going off on one of his dangerous ethnological adventures.

'Tomb Raider' Trailer Released; Gamers React To First Footage
The first trailer for the new "Tomb Raider" reboot was released Wednesday, and it seems like fans are enjoying the video much more than the poster that was released earlier this week. The first official poster for "Tomb Raider" was criticized by many who believe star Alicia Vikander's neck is photoshopped to the point where it seems unnatural. In fact, it seems like many fans are pretty excited for the new movie. The "Tomb Raider" promo video makes it clear that this is a reboot that will start at the beginning of Lara's story. The trailer shows Lara (Vikander) getting a message from her dead father.

Sheffield scientists claim sex robots will be common soon
Realistic sex robots will bring about a social and technological revolution in Britain, experts predict. While it might seem like science fiction, the machines are becoming increasingly sophisticated – and over the next ten years realistic sex androids will become more common, scientists say. But politicians and the public need to understand and deal with the ethical issues that sex robots will pose to society and relationships. This was the warning from Noel Sharkey, emeritus professor of artificial intelligence and robotics at the University of Sheffield, and Dr Aimee van Wynsberghe, assistant professor in ethics and technology at the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands, as they launched a report on the issue yesterday. Supporters of the use of sex robots say they could be useful for lonely people or those unable to form relationships. But scientists yesterday sounded grim predictions about the'dark side' of the advancing technology, that could mean grappling with issues such as rape and paedophilia.
