Ecosystem
#SmartLiving or as we might live with #artificial #intelligence and an open #IoT in a #new #reality – Paradigm Interactions
He looks for ways to test and assess "How we might Live" with the technology and how it will adapt our lives, our cultures and move humanity onwards to greater things delivered through Open IoT Ecosystems in Smart Living and IoT3. "we used to wait until the washing machine broke down, to arrange a service engineer, then we took out a service contract so they would call us, with our IoT machine, it calls the engineer, or shop and they just charge our account when we get the service or comestibles we need to do our washing, but we still need to check we have not been over charged" Modern convince has only changed the stress points in our lives, from analog, to digital and from servant, to master and onward to accountant. The wide distribution of blockchain technologies afford the ability to remove several of key aspects of speculation. And what happens to everyone else who can't transition between Digital Living into Smart Living, because of the loss of freedoms, due to not having the skills to function in Smart Living or just not being invited?
Set the Machines free to learn
In today's day and time while most organizations are busy revamping their Policy administration systems which were long ready to be replaced a decade ago, what will set companies apart will be the organizations that start considering Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence(AI) for their core systems. In every type of insurance product the claims experience influencing the pricing and risk aggregation decision making done by the insurer. If the dots are connected and the data patterns understood and logic applied there are certain decision making aspects that can move away from people to machines and over time evolve to largely autonomous ecosystem. So before we set the drones to fly and change the commercial insurance ecosystem, Machine learning and AI need to be adopted into mainstream core software platforms.

Amazon's Alexa passes 15,000 skills, up from 10,000 in February
Amazon's Alexa voice platform has now passed 15,000 skills -- the voice-powered apps that run on devices like the Echo speaker, Echo Dot, newer Echo Show and others. In the meantime, Amazon's Alexa is surging ahead, building out an entire voice app ecosystem so quickly that it hasn't even been able to implement the usual safeguards -- like a team that closely inspects apps for terms of service violations, for example, or even tools that allow developers to make money from their creations. In the long run, Amazon's focus on growth over app ecosystem infrastructure could catch up with it. In addition, Google Home has just 378 voice apps available as of June 30, Voicebot notes.
Mapping the Canadian AI Ecosystem
If we sum up all the available numbers for AI research investments (including other government funding like the $93.5M awarded to IVADO by the Canada Research Excellence Fund last September, as well as private funds invested in public or semi-public labs) we end up with close to $500M in funding across the country. Beyond that, when we look up other domains that work hand in hand with AI, such as Big Data, cloud infrastructure and the like, that number grows even higher. What made Silicon Valley's talent pump work up to now was its ecosystem of large firms and venture capital feeding startups, as well as research who in turn generate the innovations to push the large firms forward. With investments from the federal and provincial governments in research, as well as from Big Tech, the Canadian talent pump is growing quickly.

Artificial intelligence to drive mobile innovation, says GSMA
A collection of our most popular articles for IT leaders from the first few months of 2016, including: - Corporate giants recruit digitally-minded outsiders to drive transformation - Analytics platforms to drive strategy in 2016 - Next generation: The changing role of IT leaders. This trend can be seen in Samsung's 6 October acquisition of Viv Labs, a US-based developer of open AI platforms that gives third-party developers the power to build conversational assistants and integrate natural language-based interfaces into mobile apps; or the launch of Google's Pixel smartphone, which includes an integrated AI assistant. The Global Mobile Trends report was produced by the GSMA's research arm, GSMA Intelligence, and compiled data on mobile subscriber growth trends, mobile internet adoption, devices and industry finances to present a comprehensive view of the megatrends influencing the worldwide mobile ecosystem. Summing up the report's findings, GSMA chief strategy officer Hyunmi Yang said: "In this year's report, we demonstrate evidence of a major shift in mobile to Asia, particularly India, which has now overtaken China to become the industry's key growth market, and the transition to a smartphone-powered'mobile-first' internet, which is delivering a new generation of internet users.
Machine Learning and Visualization in Julia – Tom Breloff
In this post, I'll introduce you to the Julia programming language and a couple long-term projects of mine: Plots for easily building complex data visualizations, and JuliaML for machine learning and AI. Easily create strongly-typed custom data manipulators. "User recipes" and "type recipes" can be defined on custom types to enable them to be "plotted" just like anything else. We believe that Julia has the potential to change the way researchers approach science, enabling algorithm designers to truly "think outside the box" (because of the difficulty of implementing non-conventional approaches in other languages).
Artificial intelligence has rising impact on financial markets
Many scientists and futurists agree that the effects of artificial intelligence and automation on society are difficult to predict. While many predicted that the tip of the spear for such technology would play out in areas such as medicine or general computer system markets, the AI revolution is already underway in the financial markets. Nearly all market-making is presently dominated by machines that employ AI techniques, including advanced pattern recognition. The markets evolution from the primordial ooze of computers, networks and massive storage systems to a complex, intelligent and somewhat singular market entity will impact society well beyond finance.

IBM To Invest in Blockchain and AI Development in Asia
IBM has opened The Watson Centre at Marina Bay in Singapore – an incubator designed to bring together organisations of all sizes, business partners and IBM experts to co-create business solutions that leverage IBM's cognitive, Blockchain and design capabilities. IBM's new Asia Pacific headquarters is based in the same location, in the heart of Singapore's financial district. IBM Garage Singapore With the advent of Blockchain, and the increasing demand from clients across Asia to explore the possibilities of this transformative technology, IBM will help accelerate the design, development and commercialization of Singapore Blockchain applications through the IBM Garage and the IBM Global Entrepreneur program. At the IBM Garage, experts collaborate with clients, developers and entrepreneurs to test-drive tools, processes, and procedures to make Blockchain real. The garage creates a bridge between the scale of enterprise and culture of startups and supports the development of an Open Standards based Blockchain ecosystem and creates new work opportunities in Singapore.
