HOPE: A Reinforcement Learning-based Hybrid Policy Path Planner for Diverse Parking Scenarios

Automated parking stands as a highly anticipated application of autonomous driving technology. However, existing path planning methodologies fall short of addressing this need due to their incapability to handle the diverse and complex parking scenarios in reality. While non-learning methods provide reliable planning results, they are vulnerable to intricate occasions, whereas learning-based ones are good at exploration but unstable in converging to feasible solutions. To leverage the strengths of both approaches, we introduce Hybrid pOlicy Path plannEr (HOPE). This novel solution integrates a reinforcement learning agent with Reeds-Shepp curves, enabling effective planning across diverse scenarios. HOPE guides the exploration of the reinforcement learning agent by applying an action mask mechanism and employs a transformer to integrate the perceived environmental information with the mask. To facilitate the training and evaluation of the proposed planner, we propose a criterion for categorizing the difficulty level of parking scenarios based on space and obstacle distribution. Experimental results demonstrate that our approach outperforms typical rule-based algorithms and traditional reinforcement learning methods, showing higher planning success rates and generalization across various scenarios. We also conduct real-world experiments to verify the practicability of HOPE. The code for our solution will be openly available on \href{GitHub}{https://github.com/jiamiya/HOPE}.
Domain Generalizable Knowledge Tracing via Concept Aggregation and Relation-Based Attention

Knowledge Tracing (KT) is a critical task in online education systems, aiming to monitor students' knowledge states throughout a learning period. Common KT approaches involve predicting the probability of a student correctly answering the next question based on their exercise history. However, these methods often suffer from performance degradation when faced with the scarcity of student interactions in new education systems. To address this, we leverage student interactions from existing education systems to mitigate performance degradation caused by limited training data. Nevertheless, these interactions exhibit significant differences since they are derived from different education systems. To address this issue, we propose a domain generalization approach for knowledge tracing, where existing education systems are considered source domains, and new education systems with limited data are considered target domains. Additionally, we design a domain-generalizable knowledge tracing framework (DGKT) that can be applied to any KT model. Specifically, we present a concept aggregation approach designed to reduce conceptual disparities within sequences of student interactions from diverse domains. To further mitigate domain discrepancies, we introduce a novel normalization module called Sequence Instance Normalization (SeqIN). Moreover, to fully leverage exercise information, we propose a new knowledge tracing model tailored for the domain generalization KT task, named Domain-Generalizable Relation-based Knowledge Tracing (DGRKT). Extensive experiments across five benchmark datasets demonstrate that the proposed method performs well despite limited training data.
Crowd-Sourced NeRF: Collecting Data from Production Vehicles for 3D Street View Reconstruction

Recently, Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) achieved impressive results in novel view synthesis. Block-NeRF showed the capability of leveraging NeRF to build large city-scale models. For large-scale modeling, a mass of image data is necessary. Collecting images from specially designed data-collection vehicles can not support large-scale applications. How to acquire massive high-quality data remains an opening problem. Noting that the automotive industry has a huge amount of image data, crowd-sourcing is a convenient way for large-scale data collection. In this paper, we present a crowd-sourced framework, which utilizes substantial data captured by production vehicles to reconstruct the scene with the NeRF model. This approach solves the key problem of large-scale reconstruction, that is where the data comes from and how to use them. Firstly, the crowd-sourced massive data is filtered to remove redundancy and keep a balanced distribution in terms of time and space. Then a structure-from-motion module is performed to refine camera poses. Finally, images, as well as poses, are used to train the NeRF model in a certain block. We highlight that we present a comprehensive framework that integrates multiple modules, including data selection, sparse 3D reconstruction, sequence appearance embedding, depth supervision of ground surface, and occlusion completion. The complete system is capable of effectively processing and reconstructing high-quality 3D scenes from crowd-sourced data. Extensive quantitative and qualitative experiments were conducted to validate the performance of our system. Moreover, we proposed an application, named first-view navigation, which leveraged the NeRF model to generate 3D street view and guide the driver with a synthesized video.
SS-ADA: A Semi-Supervised Active Domain Adaptation Framework for Semantic Segmentation

Semantic segmentation plays an important role in intelligent vehicles, providing pixel-level semantic information about the environment. However, the labeling budget is expensive and time-consuming when semantic segmentation model is applied to new driving scenarios. To reduce the costs, semi-supervised semantic segmentation methods have been proposed to leverage large quantities of unlabeled images. Despite this, their performance still falls short of the accuracy required for practical applications, which is typically achieved by supervised learning. A significant shortcoming is that they typically select unlabeled images for annotation randomly, neglecting the assessment of sample value for model training. In this paper, we propose a novel semi-supervised active domain adaptation (SS-ADA) framework for semantic segmentation that employs an image-level acquisition strategy. SS-ADA integrates active learning into semi-supervised semantic segmentation to achieve the accuracy of supervised learning with a limited amount of labeled data from the target domain. Additionally, we design an IoU-based class weighting strategy to alleviate the class imbalance problem using annotations from active learning. We conducted extensive experiments on synthetic-to-real and real-to-real domain adaptation settings. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of our method. SS-ADA can achieve or even surpass the accuracy of its supervised learning counterpart with only 25% of the target labeled data when using a real-time segmentation model. Monocular Localization with Semantics Map for Autonomous Vehicles

Accurate and robust localization remains a significant challenge for autonomous vehicles. The cost of sensors and limitations in local computational efficiency make it difficult to scale to large commercial applications. Traditional vision-based approaches focus on texture features that are susceptible to changes in lighting, season, perspective, and appearance. Additionally, the large storage size of maps with descriptors and complex optimization processes hinder system performance. To balance efficiency and accuracy, we propose a novel lightweight visual semantic localization algorithm that employs stable semantic features instead of low-level texture features. First, semantic maps are constructed offline by detecting semantic objects, such as ground markers, lane lines, and poles, using cameras or LiDAR sensors. Then, online visual localization is performed through data association of semantic features and map objects. We evaluated our proposed localization framework in the publicly available KAIST Urban dataset and in scenarios recorded by ourselves. The experimental results demonstrate that our method is a reliable and practical localization solution in various autonomous driving localization tasks.
DeCoOp: Robust Prompt Tuning with Out-of-Distribution Detection

Vision-language models (VLMs), such as CLIP, have demonstrated impressive zero-shot capabilities for various downstream tasks. Their performance can be further enhanced through few-shot prompt tuning methods. However, current studies evaluate the performance of learned prompts separately on base and new classes. This evaluation lacks practicality for real-world applications since downstream tasks cannot determine whether the data belongs to base or new classes in advance. In this paper, we explore a problem setting called Open-world Prompt Tuning (OPT), which involves tuning prompts on base classes and evaluating on a combination of base and new classes. By introducing Decomposed Prompt Tuning framework (DePT), we theoretically demonstrate that OPT can be solved by incorporating out-of-distribution detection into prompt tuning, thereby enhancing the base-to-new discriminability. Based on DePT, we present a novel prompt tuning approach, namely, Decomposed Context Optimization (DeCoOp), which introduces new-class detectors and sub-classifiers to further enhance the base-class and new-class discriminability. Experimental results on 11 benchmark datasets validate the effectiveness of DePT and demonstrate that DeCoOp outperforms current state-of-the-art methods, providing a significant 2% average accuracy improvement.
Explainable Molecular Property Prediction: Aligning Chemical Concepts with Predictions via Language Models

Providing explainable molecule property predictions is critical for many scientific domains, such as drug discovery and material science. Though transformer-based language models have shown great potential in accurate molecular property prediction, they neither provide chemically meaningful explanations nor faithfully reveal the molecular structure-property relationships. In this work, we develop a new framework for explainable molecular property prediction based on language models, dubbed as Lamole, which can provide chemical concepts-aligned explanations. We first leverage a designated molecular representation -- the Group SELFIES -- as it can provide chemically meaningful semantics. Because attention mechanisms in Transformers can inherently capture relationships within the input, we further incorporate the attention weights and gradients together to generate explanations for capturing the functional group interactions. We then carefully craft a marginal loss to explicitly optimize the explanations to be able to align with the chemists' annotations. We bridge the manifold hypothesis with the elaborated marginal loss to prove that the loss can align the explanations with the tangent space of the data manifold, leading to concept-aligned explanations. Experimental results over six mutagenicity datasets and one hepatotoxicity dataset demonstrate Lamole can achieve comparable classification accuracy and boost the explanation accuracy by up to 14.8%, being the state-of-the-art in explainable molecular property prediction.
Interpretable Multi-View Clustering Based on Anchor Graph Tensor Factorization

The clustering method based on the anchor graph has gained significant attention due to its exceptional clustering performance and ability to process large-scale data. One common approach is to learn bipartite graphs with K-connected components, helping avoid the need for post-processing. However, this method has strict parameter requirements and may not always get K-connected components. To address this issue, an alternative approach is to directly obtain the cluster label matrix by performing non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) on the anchor graph. Nevertheless, existing multi-view clustering methods based on anchor graph factorization lack adequate cluster interpretability for the decomposed matrix and often overlook the inter-view information. We address this limitation by using non-negative tensor factorization to decompose an anchor graph tensor that combines anchor graphs from multiple views. This approach allows us to consider inter-view information comprehensively. The decomposed tensors, namely the sample indicator tensor and the anchor indicator tensor, enhance the interpretability of the factorization. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of this method.
One-Step Multi-View Clustering Based on Transition Probability

The large-scale multi-view clustering algorithms, based on the anchor graph, have shown promising performance and efficiency and have been extensively explored in recent years. Despite their successes, current methods lack interpretability in the clustering process and do not sufficiently consider the complementary information across different views. To address these shortcomings, we introduce the One-Step Multi-View Clustering Based on Transition Probability (OSMVC-TP). This method adopts a probabilistic approach, which leverages the anchor graph, representing the transition probabilities from samples to anchor points. Our method directly learns the transition probabilities from anchor points to categories, and calculates the transition probabilities from samples to categories, thus obtaining soft label matrices for samples and anchor points, enhancing the interpretability of clustering. Furthermore, to maintain consistency in labels across different views, we apply a Schatten p-norm constraint on the tensor composed of the soft labels. This approach effectively harnesses the complementary information among the views. Extensive experiments have confirmed the effectiveness and robustness of OSMVC-TP.
Anchor-free Clustering based on Anchor Graph Factorization

Anchor-based methods are a pivotal approach in handling clustering of large-scale data. However, these methods typically entail two distinct stages: selecting anchor points and constructing an anchor graph. This bifurcation, along with the initialization of anchor points, significantly influences the overall performance of the algorithm. To mitigate these issues, we introduce a novel method termed Anchor-free Clustering based on Anchor Graph Factorization (AFCAGF). AFCAGF innovates in learning the anchor graph, requiring only the computation of pairwise distances between samples. This process, achievable through straightforward optimization, circumvents the necessity for explicit selection of anchor points. More concretely, our approach enhances the Fuzzy k-means clustering algorithm (FKM), introducing a new manifold learning technique that obviates the need for initializing cluster centers. Additionally, we evolve the concept of the membership matrix between cluster centers and samples in FKM into an anchor graph encompassing multiple anchor points and samples. Employing Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) on this anchor graph allows for the direct derivation of cluster labels, thereby eliminating the requirement for further post-processing steps. To solve the method proposed, we implement an alternating optimization algorithm that ensures convergence. Empirical evaluations on various real-world datasets underscore the superior efficacy of our algorithm compared to traditional approaches.
