'Minecraft' Makes It Clear: Sony And PlayStation's Crossplay Problem Isn't Going Away

Microsoft and Nintendo are friends now, and they want the world to know it. The Nintendo Switch gets Minecraft tomorrow, bringing one of the biggest games in the world to the still-new platform, and a big game that happens to be a Microsoft product, to boot. In a just-released crossplay trailer, the two companies highlighted the fact that Switch players and Xbox players can craft together to their heart's content. And in the wake of Sony's recent Fortnite debacle, the message is pretty clear: Xbox and Switch users are hanging out at a party that PlayStation users can't attend. To back up a second, Sony recently got in hot water for barring any Fortnite account ever used on the PS4 from playing on a Switch, dashing the cross-progression dreams of people who wanted to play Fortnite on the go better controls than what mobile has to offer.
