Goodbye 2022, hello 2023

In 2020-2021 we had one big story in the AI world, the generative pre-trained transformer. Multi-billion market cap Jasper.ai was founded in January of 2021 and of course GPT-3 from OpenAI was released in June of 2020. During the course of 2022 we have had four (3.5) major AI stories -- I'm not saying that nothing else happened, in fact a LOT has… (advances from Alphafold is just one example). But in using the yardstick of public awareness and looking at stories that make it to "mainstream" we can measure the acceleration of activity in the AI sphere. At one point it was years between stories that would break into the mainstream and they had little practical implications (Chess, Jeopardy, Go…) and then in the last three years we are seeing an amazing and increasing number of practical AI demonstrations... one in 2020-2021, three or four in 2022...
