Tired of Audible? These are my favorite free audiobook alternatives

When you purchase through links in our articles, we may earn a small commission. These two free, self-hosted tools make it easy to stream your own audiobook collection, track progress across devices, and even sync reading with listening. If you like audiobooks but don't want to be tied down to Audible, there are actually some good free alternatives out there. Two that I recommend are Audiobookshelf and Storyteller. Both are self-hosted, which means that your library stays on your own computer or server, rather than in a company's cloud.
