AI and Machine Learning Are Driving a PC Revival

Something has happened in the tech hardware space that no one saw coming. PC shipments have increased for the first time in six years, according to recent figures released by Gartner. Despite all the predictions about the decline of the desktop, it seems reports of its demise have been greatly exaggerated. Gartner's figures show that worldwide PC shipments totaled 62.1 million units in the second quarter of 2018, a 1.4 percent increase from the second quarter of 2017. This is the first quarter of year-over-year global PC shipment growth since the first quarter of 2012.
