How AI Is Evolving The Patient Experience

#artificialintelligence

PSFK researchers look at artificial intelligence's growing role in healthcare for needs like scheduling and patient communication In recent years it has become evident that AI is having a sizable impact on the way patients receive health care, as well as how professionals administer that care. For example, medical practitioners and patients are using AI-driven self-scheduling and smart calendar software to schedule appointments, conversational assistants to diagnose and prescribe medicines, and virtual platforms for remote consultations. PSFK researchers took a closer look at how technology is evolving the patient experience and how these advancements can provide additional insights into ways that retailers are using scheduling software to optimize staffing for improved customer experiences. These technologies are no longer fringe or extreme cases; in fact, Sandhya Pruthi, MD, Associate Medical Director of the Mayo Clinic, commented on how they are impacting patient care today: "Voice-enabled experience is a new and growing channel for reaching people and delivering information they are seeking, whether or not they have an existing relationship with Mayo Clinic." As part of a larger trend we are calling'Self-Scheduling,' PSFK researchers exlpored how new technologies are seamlessly onboarding patients and connecting them to the right doctors and medical practitioners through voice-based activations and mobile or digital platforms.
