COVID-19 Has Revealed Change To Be A Matter Of Mindset. What Could This Mean For AI In The Future?

COVID-19 has presented the world with an immense healthcare, social, political and economic challenge. As a global community, we are striving to mitigate the impact of this crisis on our lives and livelihoods through a combination of adapting our mindsets, behaviours, technologies and curtailing personal freedom for the greater good. The result is a grand yet inadvertent experiment on a global scale designed to test and evaluate our preparedness, competence and responsiveness to the demands of a crisis placing great stress on the fundamental pillars of our society and human spirit. Considering the information and time that was available to prepare and implement preventative measures, when looking at the statistics it is difficult to view the results of this experiment as anything but damning. Denial, ignorance and exceptionalism has resulted in millions infected, over one hundred thousand dead, millions unemployed and struggling, with many more likely to join them.
