Artificial Neural Networks are insipired by our nervous system. The general idea is that if we copy the brain structure, we will build a learning machine. As you are probably aware, the smallest unit of the nervous system is a neuron. These are cells with similar and simple structures. Yet, by continuous communication, these cells achieve enormous processing power.
