Nautilus

In the 2004 film I, Robot, Detective Del Spooner asks an A.I. named Sonny: "Can a robot write a symphony? Can a robot turn a canvas into a beautiful masterpiece?" Scientists have been working on answering Spooner's question for the last decade with striking results. Researchers from Rutgers University, Facebook, and the College of Charleston have developed a system for generating original art called C.A.N. (Creative Adversarial Network). They "trained" C.A.N. on more than 81,000 paintings from 1,119 artists ranging from the 15th century to the 20th century.
