ANRA Applied sciences Non-public Restricted, a frontrunner in built-in airspace, mission administration and supply programs for uncrewed plane, has been chosen by Swiggy, India's largest on-line meals supply service, to judge the feasibility of center mile drone supply for the corporate's Instamart grocery supply service. ANRA is offering its UTM, MissionManager and Supply software program platforms for this challenge, built-in with TechEagle drones. The plane might be deployed to replenish shares between seller-run achievement facilities and from a retailer to a standard buyer level. A floor automobile will decide up orders from the situation for last supply. The pilot program began in Bengaluru and Delhi-NCR (Nationwide Capital Area), with enlargement deliberate for the broader area.

Russian oil refinery near Ukraine says it was hit by drone attack

Al Jazeera

A drone attack has hit a major Russian oil refinery near the border with Ukraine, the plant's management said, sending a ball of flame and black smoke billowing into the sky and prompting the suspension of operations. Officials at the Novoshakhtinsk oil refinery in Russia's Rostov region said the first drone attacked at 8:40am (05:40GMT), hitting a crude distillation unit, triggering a blast and ball of fire. The second attack, at 9:23am, targeted crude oil reservoirs at the refinery, the largest supplier of oil products in southern Russia, but caused no fire, according to plant management. No one was reported injured. Russian regions bordering Ukraine have reported attacks and shelling after Moscow sent its troops into its neighbour on February 24 for what it still calls a "special military operation".

Vantis UAS System Opens Mission and Community Ops - Channel969

#artificialintelligence

This previous Thursday noticed Vantis, North Dakota's statewide unmanned plane methods (UAS) system, formally rejoice the grand opening of its Mission and Community Operations Middle (MNOC) at GrandSky Enterprise and Aviation Park. The MNOC acts as Vantis' command middle and is crucial to the coordination of beyond-visual-line-of-sight (BVLOS) flight operations. "That is the center of Vantis," mentioned Trevor Woods, govt director of the Northern Plains UAS Check Website (NPUASTS), which administers Vantis. "From this location, we have now the know-how to observe and management the distant infrastructure, enabling all the operation. The MNOC will likely be integral to coordinating protected, repeatable BVLOS flights throughout North Dakota, and scalable to bigger areas."

Amazon drones are coming to town. Some locals want to shoot them.

Washington Post - Technology News

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who owns The Washington Post, made a big splash when he announced drone delivery on 60 Minutes in 2013. But the company has struggled to deliver on its promise, so far making just one drone delivery in Cambridge, England in 2016 before the team was disbanded. In March 2020, Bloomberg reported, Amazon hired David Carbon from Boeing to speed the project along, and some employees clashed with his approach. Former flight assistant Cheddi Skeete has spoken out publicly about his safety concerns regarding Prime Air, which has experienced multiple drone crashes during test flights, including one in Oregon that started a 25-acre fire.

Developing a Free and Open-source Automated Building Exterior Crack Inspection Software for Construction and Facility Managers

arXiv.org Artificial Intelligence

Inspection of cracks is an important process for properly monitoring and maintaining a building. However, manual crack inspection is time-consuming, inconsistent, and dangerous (e.g., in tall buildings). Due to the development of open-source AI technologies, the increase in available Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and the availability of smartphone cameras, it has become possible to automate the building crack inspection process. This study presents the development of an easy-to-use, free and open-source Automated Building Exterior Crack Inspection Software (ABECIS) for construction and facility managers, using state-of-the-art segmentation algorithms to identify concrete cracks and generate a quantitative and qualitative report. ABECIS was tested using images collected from a UAV and smartphone cameras in real-world conditions and a controlled laboratory environment. From the raw output of the algorithm, the median Intersection over Unions for the test experiments is (1) 0.686 for indoor crack detection experiment in a controlled lab environment using a commercial drone, (2) 0.186 for indoor crack detection at a construction site using a smartphone and (3) 0.958 for outdoor crack detection on university campus using a commercial drone. These IoU results can be improved significantly to over 0.8 when a human operator selectively removes the false positives. In general, ABECIS performs best for outdoor drone images, and combining the algorithm predictions with human verification/intervention offers very accurate crack detection results.

Ukrainian member of parliament Rustem Umerov reacts to President Biden announcing on Wednesday another $1.2 billion in security and humanitarian assistance on'Fox News @ Night.' An individual's location is typically known to someone or thing at any given time whether using a smartphone or device – such as a drone. This issue has become one of tremendous strategic importance for Ukrainians in their battle against Russian aggression. Allegations have arisen that Da-Jiang Innovations (DJI), a Chinese company that is the world's largest civilian drone manufacturer, has been providing the Russian military with software to track Ukrainians piloting DJI drones used to conduct operations. The matter raises grave new concerns about the behavior of another Beijing technology behemoth and its impact on Ukrainian self-defense efforts. Ukraine's minister of digital transformation sent an open letter to DJI founder Frank Wang in March accusing Russia of using "an extended version of DJI AeroScope" to navigate missiles that are killing Ukrainian civilians.
