ChatGPT users' credit card details and personal information are LEAKED after AI was hit by a 'bug'

Daily Mail - Science & tech

OpenAI revealed Friday a bug exposed some ChatGPT users' personal information and credit card details to others using the service. The bug was spotted Monday, when a'small percentage' of users this week could see chat titles in their own conversation history that were not theirs - but the issue is much deeper than previously thought. OpenAI said Friday: 'It was possible for some users to see another active user's first and last name, email address, payment address, the last four digits (only) of a credit card number, and credit card expiration date.' The announcement stated 1.2 percent of ChatGPT Plus subscribers. The company has around 100 million users, but it is not clear how many are paying for the service.

Deploying Large NLP Models: Infrastructure Cost Optimization

#artificialintelligence

NLP models in commercial applications such as text generation systems have experienced great interest among the user. These models have achieved various groundbreaking results in many NLP tasks like question-answering, summarization, language translation, classification, paraphrasing, et cetera. Models like for example ChatGPT, Gopher **(280B), GPT-3 (175B), Jurassic-1 (178B), and Megatron-Turing NLG (530B) are predominantly very large and often addressed as large language models or LLMs. These models can easily have millions or up to billions of parameters making them financially expensive to deploy and maintain. Such large natural language processing models require significant computational power and memory, which is often the leading cause of high infrastructure costs. Even if you are fine-tuning an average-sized model for a large-scale application, you need to muster a huge amount of data.

AI Won't Kill Our Jobs, It Will Kill Our Job Descriptions--and Leave Us Better Off

#artificialintelligence

The hype around artificial intelligence has been building for years, and you could say it reached a crescendo with OpenAI's recent release of ChatGPT (and now GPT-4). It only took two months for ChatGPT to reach 100 million users, making it the fastest-growing consumer application in history (it took Instagram two and a half years to gain the same user base, and TikTok nine months). In Ian Beacraft's opinion, we're in an AI hype bubble, way above the top of the peak of inflated expectations on the Gartner Hype Cycle. But it may be justified, because the AI tools we're seeing really do have the power to overhaul the way we work, learn, and create value. Beacraft is the founder of the strategic foresight agency Signal & Cipher and co-owner of a production studio that designs virtual worlds. In a talk at South by Southwest last week, he shared his predictions of how AI will shape society in the years and decades to come.

OpenAI says a bug leaked sensitive ChatGPT user data

Engadget

OpenAI was forced to take its wildly-popular ChatGPT bot offline for emergency maintenance on Tuesday after a user was able to exploit a bug in the system to recall the titles from other users' chat histories. On Friday the company announced its initial findings from the incident. In Tuesday's incident, users posted screenshots on Reddit that their ChatGPT sidebars featured previous chat histories from other users. Only the title of the conversation, not the text itself, were visible. OpenAI, in response, took the bot offline for nearly 10 hours to investigate. The results of that investigation revealed a deeper security issue: the chat history bug may have also potentially revealed personal data from 1.2 percent of ChatGPT Plus subscribers (a $20/month enhanced access package).

🚀 How AI is Revolutionizing Digital Health: From Early Beginnings to GPT-4 🌟

The ChatGPT Advantage: AI is Transforming Small Business Operations - MyAlignedIT.com

#artificialintelligence

Until recently, most practical applications of artificial intelligence have been out of sight and out of mind. They include the algorithms behind self-driving cars, advanced robotics, and high-stakes financial trading. Today, conversational AI, much like the one you may be familiar with from 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968) or Her (2013), is no longer a distant vision but a readily available tool that all employees can instantly access and benefit from. This tool is called ChatGPT, and it is revolutionizing the way small businesses operate, helping them compete in an increasingly complex and fast-paced market. ChatGPT is a type of artificial intelligence called a large language model (LLM).

The gold-rush has started, and this time, it's not gold that's driving the frenzy -- it's AI. The world is currently witnessing an AI revolution that is changing the way we live, work, and interact. With advancements in machine learning, natural language processing, and computer vision, AI is becoming more intelligent and sophisticated, enabling it to take on complex tasks and decision-making processes. As AI technology continues to evolve, we also need to evolve in order to harness its full potential, avoid being obsolete and mitigate potential risks. ChatGPT is an AI language model developed by OpenAI that can generate human-like responses to text-based prompts.

Klarna Adds ChatGPT as an Enhancement to Online Shopping – Digital Transactions

#artificialintelligence

ChatGPT, the artificial intelligence-based chatbot developed by OpenAI, is being rolled out by Klarna AB to provide what the payments platform calls personalized and intuitive shopping experiences. Online shoppers will be able to ask Klarna, through the chatbot, for product recommendations, as well as receive links to shop recommended products through Klarna's search and compare tool. While Klarna says it will not be using ChatGPT for payments, the company joins Stripe Inc. as one of the first payments companies to adopt the technology in any capacity. Stripe announced earlier this month it was incorporating ChatGPT's natural-language technology into its products and services. Klarna will enable the ChatGPT plugin for ChatGPT users, beginning with ChatGPT Plus subscribers in the United States and Canada, and gradually roll the technology out to other regions.
