Generative AI
Congress and AI - The New Stack
Congress has never been the quickest off the mark when it comes to making laws dealing with technology. Now, even as AI takes over creative writing and art, Congress continues to sit idle. As legislators endeavor to comprehend generative AI programs such as Microsoft Bing, ChatGPT and Google Bard, some of the more technology-oriented lawmakers are apprehensive about a repeat of Congress's unpreparedness in responding to the previous major tech wave -- social media. Worries, however, don't appear to be leading to action. True, there's a backlash now for letting tech companies keep Washington at arm's length with promises of "self-regulation" on critical issues such as privacy protection, child safety, disinformation, cryptocurrency, and data portability.
OpenAI CEO Says ChatGPT Bug Already Fixed; Users Can No Longer See Random Chat Histories
Sam Altman, OpenAI's boss said that there's a bug startling some ChatGPT users this week. The vulnerability has been reportedly showing the chat histories of other people. For others, it might spark some privacy concerns for users who want to use the AI chatbot in secrecy. When the AI-focused startup discovered that a new bug arose on ChatGPT on Tuesday, March 21, Altman immediately acknowledged the issue so the team could look for a quick remedy to patch it up. In a latest report by CNBC, Altman says that the vulnerability in the open-source library of ChatGPT is finally removed.
Here Are 3 Big Areas Where AI Is Cropping Up In Agtech
While Silicon Valley has transformed every industry from health care to banking, agriculture has remained largely untouched -- until now. Ever since OpenAI's breakthrough with ChatGPT, the term AI has been thrown around so many times it's starting to lose its meaning. Nevertheless, artificial intelligence has seeped into every industry from enterprise software to autonomous vehicles, taking around 10% of global venture dollars in 2022. Grow your revenue with all-in-one prospecting solutions powered by the leader in private-company data. Agriculture has not been immune to the AI revolution that has gripped the tech world.
ChatGPT's new plugins will deliver real-time stats
Following the release the new GPT-4 engine and Whisper API in March, OpenAI announced Thursday that it has begun introducing plugins for ChatGPT. These will enable the chatbot to interact with 3rd-party APIs, tailoring its responses to specific circumstances as defined by the developers while expanding the bot's range of capable actions. Say you want to develop a chatbot that users can talk sports with. Before the latest GPT-4 upgrade, the chatbot would only be able to discuss games and scores that happened in the past, specifically in 2021 which is when GPT-3's training data was assembled. It wouldn't pull real-time data or even be aware that the year 2022 existed.
Meta's Generative AI Efforts Are Already Paying Off @themotleyfool #stocks $META
Mark Zuckerberg told investors generative artificial intelligence (AI) would be a bigger focus for Meta Platforms (META 3.51%) in 2023, and it's already starting to pay off. Following the rollout of Apple's App Track Transparency on iOS, Meta shifted to rely more on AI to help target and measure ads. It also started creating AI-based tools to help generate ad creatives (an object that contains all the data for visually rendering the ad itself) that are more effective. The social media company recently released an update on its efforts to improve the results of marketers on Facebook and Instagram through the use of artificial intelligence. It shouldn't be a big surprise that Meta's AI is producing great outcomes for advertisers willing to cede more control of their ad targeting, placement, and creatives.
Enterprise use cases for GPT-3: How to chat with your own data - DataScienceCentral.com
It's easy to think of LLMs (large language models) as just'hallucinating' or mere generators of text. A glorified LSTM so to speak. While there are some limitations of LLMs (and indeed they are evolving), a far more interesting question to explore is: How can LLMs be used in enterprise applications? In many ways, enterprise applications of LLMs can overcome some of the problems. One possible solution is a combination of Azure Cognitive Search and Azure OpenAI Service. Taking a B2B perspective, the solution involves "chatting with your own data".
ChatGPT creator confirms a bug allowed some users to snoop on others' chat histories
OpenAI states that their ChatGPT model, trained using a machine learning technique called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), can simulate dialogue, answer follow-up questions, admit mistakes, challenge incorrect premises and reject inappropriate requests. Initial development involved human AI trainers providing the model with conversations in which they played both sides - the user and an AI assistant. The version of the bot available for public testing attempts to understand questions posed by users and responds with in-depth answers resembling human-written text in a conversational format. A tool like ChatGPT could be used in real-world applications such as digital marketing, online content creation, answering customer service queries or as some users have found, even to help debug code. The bot can respond to a large range of questions while imitating human speaking styles.
ChatGPT owner OpenAI fixes bug that exposed users' chat histories
ChatGPT owner OpenAI says it has fixed a bug that caused a "significant issue" of a small set of users being able to see the titles of others' conversation history with the viral chatbot. As a result of the fix, users could not access their chat history on March 20, Chief Executive Sam Altman said in a tweet on Wednesday. "We had a significant issue in ChatGPT due to a bug in an open-source library," Altman said. "We feel awful about this." An OpenAI spokesperson told Bloomberg News "the titles were visible in the user-history sidebar that typically appears on the left side of the ChatGPT webpage … [but] the substance of other users' conversations was not visible".
GPT-4 is Out - A Roundup of Writeups - by Scott Swigart
OpenAI has (partially) released GPT-4. You can get access by paying for ChatGPT Pro (although ChatGPT Pro is currently limited to text, while the full GPT-4 can deal with more mediums than text), or you can join the waitlist for the API. There are a lot of really good writeups on what's in GPT-4, so rather than write another one, I'm going to link to the great work that other "first on the scene" authors have done. A History of Generative AI: From GAN to GPT-4 - MarkTechPost
Generative AI is a part of Artificial Intelligence capable of generating new content such as code, images, music, text, simulations, 3D objects, videos, and so on. It is considered an important part of AI research and development, as it has the potential to revolutionize many industries, including entertainment, art, and design. Examples of Generative AI include ChatGPT and DALLE-2. ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI which can understand and respond to human language inputs efficiently. DALLE-2 is another model developed by OpenAI that can produce unique and high-quality images from textual descriptions. There are two types of Generative AI models: unimodal and multimodal.
