Some videos are available only by enrolling in a Coursera or EdX class. It is free to do so, but sometimes the classes are no longer in session so you have to wait a couple of months, so you have no access. I'm going to be adding more videos from public sources and replacing the online course videos over time. I like using university lectures.
Microsoft: We will democratize AI
Is artificial intelligence and conversational computing the next great frontier in IT? Microsoft believes so; the company is bullish on AI and is doubling down on opportunities it sees for the technology. "Our goal here is democratizing AI so that we make AI available for everyone," including developers, consumers, and businesses, said Harry Shum, executive vice president in Microsoft's AI and Research Group. The company officially introduced its Zo chatbot, an AI-driven, English-speaking conversation partner that is a follow-up to Tay, which had been contorted into misuse and abuse. More than 115,000 people have already been using Zo, according to Microsoft. With bots, developers can build applications offering interactive services and human-to-computer conversations.
The 'fintech' approach to data science and machine learning - The MSP Hub
Within the silos of incumbent financial services, so-called fintech companies are good at picking off one thing only and doing it well. This approach is also taken within data science, where a lot of the properly intelligent work is about understanding the domain (problem) and how best to use the information/data for the problem you have. In doing so, a fintech approach โ collaboration, open-sourcing code โ is helping to gradually change the culture of finance, even in some hitherto heavily guarded domains. Dr Tristan Fletcher, research director, Thought Machine, said: "Without this specialisation and domain knowledge, it's very hard to rise above the noise. However, the algorithms themselves are often applicable in many areas or problems, and we are probably seeing decreasing specialisation here. "Fintech lends itself particularly to specialisation because there are many well-packaged problems that need to be solved and can be clearly delineated โ KYC, AML, credit checking etc.
Uber's self-driving cars start picking up passengers in San Francisco
Uber's self-driving cars are making the move to San Francisco, in a new expansion of its pilot project with autonomous vehicles that will see Volvo SUVs outfitted with sensors and supercomputers begin picking up passengers in the city. The autonomous cars won't operate completely driverless, for the time being โ as in Pittsburgh, where Uber launched self-driving Ford Focus vehicles this fall, each SUV will have a safety driver and Uber test engineer onboard to handle manual driving when needed and monitor progress with the tests. But the cars will still be picking up ordinary passengers โ any customers who request uberX using the standard consumer-facing mobile app are eligible for a ride in one of the new XC90s operated by Uber's Advanced Technologies Group (ATG). There's a difference here beyond the geography; this is the third generation of Uber's autonomous vehicle, which is distinct from the second-generation Fords that were used in the Pittsburgh pilot. Uber has a more direct relationship with Volvo in turning its new XC90s into cars with autonomous capabilities; the Fords were essentially purchased stock off the line, while Uber's partnership with Volvo means it can do more in terms of integrating its own sensor array into the ones available on board the vehicle already.

Udacity adds 14 hiring partners as AI, VR and self-driving talent wars heat up
Udacity is positioned perfectly to benefit from the rush on talent in a number of growing areas of interest among tech companies and startups. The online education platform has added 14 new hiring partners across its Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Self-Driving Car Engineer and Virtual Reality Developer Nanodegree programs, as well as in its Predictive Analytics Nanodegree, including standouts like Bosch, Harma, Slack, Intel, Amazon Alexa and Samsung. That brings the total number of hiring partners for Udacity to over 30, which means a lot of potential soft landings for graduates of its nanodegree programs. The nanodegree offered by Udacity is its own original form of accreditation, which is based on a truncated field of study that spans months, rather than years, and allows students to direct the pace of their own learning. It also all takes place online, so students can potentially learn from anywhere. For Udacity, hiring partners help prove the value of their program to potential students, as they're effectively votes of confidence made by exactly the kinds of companies where students are looking to get jobs.
HR Is About to Meet its New Artificial Assistant - Workforce Magazine
Artificial intelligence could be a boon to HR leaders. Artificial intelligence is coming to human resources, but it's not going to be as exciting as Hollywood would have us believe. There will be no tiny humanoids roaming the halls offering AI benefits counseling, or shiny silver robots hosting AI yoga classes in the cafeteria. But in the not too distant future, there could be a Siri-like service that can answer employee benefits questions or tells people where the yoga class is, said Anthony Onesto, executive adviser to technology start-ups and vice president of Razor Fish, a digital marketing agency. Onesto is working on a project, currently in beta, called SueAI, an artificially intelligent human resource associate who answers human resource questions for HR leaders and their teams.
Researchers use artificial intelligence to better detect breast cancer
Health researchers at Houston Methodist Hospital have developed an artificial intelligence application they cite as being 30 times faster than human doctors and 99% accurate in reading and interpreting mammograms. Houston Methodist used the artificial intelligence software to evaluate mammograms and pathology reports of 500 breast cancer patients. The software scanned patient charts, collected diagnostic features and correlated mammogram findings for breast cancer. Clinicians then used the results, like the expression of tumor proteins, to accurately predict each patient's probability of a breast cancer diagnosis, the hospital says. In the U.S., 12.1 million mammograms are performed annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
How Uber Views AI and Machine Learning
The Uber of the future will be one where IoT devices and AI and machine learning instruct the system to know when to call an end-user an uber, Alex Otrezov, the online transportation giant's Head of SEM said during his SIS Q&A in Deer Valley, Utah last week.
