Ankur Jain Talks Launching Kairos Society Ventures And Retail's Impending Tech Disruption
Kairos Society Founder Ankur Jain speaks at the welcome dinner at the Kairos Society Global Summit at Espace on February 22, 2013 in New York City. Ankur Jain is building his vision of the future by understanding what industries are broken in this world, with the goal to fix them through business, technology, and innovation via the Kairos Society. An organization he founded, Kairos employs a unique recipe which brings together the world's greatest leaders--think former Apple CEO John Sculley, former head of the CIA/NSA Mike Hayden and Robert Safian, Editor-in-Chief of Fast Company--with the world's youngest and brightest founders and entrepreneurs. The result is that the people who are acutely aware of the problems (the leaders) can inform those on the cutting edge of innovation (the founders) to find solutions through business. Jain likes to use the term broken when talking about industries and systems that are lagging behind or in desperate need of an update.
Astro is an AI-powered email client with big dreams
Getting a job done often still relies on sending chains of messages back and forth to the extent that it would be nice to have an assistant to help deal with it all. That's the idea behind Astro, a new app that applies artificial intelligence to email in an attempt to make life easier for its users. Its marquee feature is Astrobot, a chatbot powered by machine learning that's designed to keep users abreast of what's important in their inbox. For example, Astrobot will read through users' emails and notify them when they've been asked important questions. It can also be used to unsubscribe from emails, clean out a user's inbox and more.
Donald Trump team attacks WikiLeaks over CIA files, despite President once saying he 'loved' them
Donald Trump's team has aggressively attacked WikiLeaks after it published files from the CIA. The WikiLeaks'Vault 7' documents make up the biggest disclosure of CIA secrets ever. And it wasn't clear how the President would react, given that he had previously told the world: "I love WikiLeaks". But Mr Trump's administration quickly attacked WikiLeaks for having published the CIA documents. White House press secretary Sean Spicer answered questions on the latest WikiLeaks disclosure by saying that leaks of national security or classified information should have everybody "outraged." "This is the kind of disclosure that undermines our country, our security and our well-being," he said.
CIA refuses to acknowledge huge WikiLeaks files release, but says leakers are helping terrorists
The CIA is refusing to acknowledge the leak of a huge set of its secrets. This week, WikiLeaks published the first of what it calls the'Vault 7' files, including a whole host of hacking and spying secrets. The more than 9,000 files appeared to contain many of the most sensitive and important pieces of information that the CIA has โ and Julian Assange has promised that more is coming. But the CIA has gone almost completely dark and is refusing to react or even acknowledge any disclosure. Samsung Galaxy S8 price leak: 20 times more expensive than relaunched Nokia 3310
The Samsung Galaxy S8 has been subject to so many leaks over the past few months that we already have a strong idea of its capabilities and features. However, until now we haven't had any indication of how much it could cost. UK retailer MobileFun has revealed what it believes to be the right figures for the smartphone, and the numbers are unsurprisingly lofty. A New Chip Makes Voice Control More Efficient, Less Creepy
Maximizing battery life remains the great challenge of every smartphone manufacturer. People use their phones for everything these days, and of course they want a battery that lasts forever, and charges in minutes. Engineers have a few ways of tackling this problem beyond packing a bigger, and potentially more dangerous, lithium-ion battery inside. The most effective trick is making the chips, drivers, and other components as energy efficient as possible. The obvious targets include big screens, 4G modems, and Bluetooth.
A Simple XGBoost Tutorial Using the Iris Dataset
I had the opportunity to start using xgboost machine learning algorithm, it is fast and shows good results. Here I will be using multiclass prediction with the iris dataset from scikit-learn. In order to work with the data, I need to install various scientific libraries for python. The best way I have found is to use Anaconda. It simply installs all the libs and helps to install new ones.
Elementary AI my dear Watsonโฆand Einstein: IBM, Salesforce strike landmark Artificial Intelligence deal - Computer Business Review
IBM's Bluewolf will set up a new practice to help clients rapidly deploy the combined IBM Watson and Salesforce Einstein capabilities. It might sound like some strange hybrid scientific detective novel, but Einstein and Watson are coming together in a landmark deal struck between Saleforce and IBM. The two giants of tech will partner to deliver solutions designed to leverage artificial intelligence, with IBM bringing its cognitive platform Watson to the table alongside Salesforce Einstein, the AI behind the CRM platform. Effectively, this means that IBM will be able to sell consulting services across both Einstein and Watson AI businesses. Watson will be available directly from the Salesforce Intelligent Customer Success Platform, combining deep customer insights from Salesforce Einstein with Watson's structured and unstructured data across many sources and industries including weather, healthcare, financial services and retail.
Facebook is Using AI to Help With Suicide Prevention
Facebook has announced the addition of new resources -- aided by artificial intelligence -- to help identify and support at-risk users, specifically those who may be suicidal. In a post on the Facebook newsroom blog, product manager Vanessa Callison-Burch, researcher Jennifer Guadagno and head of global safety Antigone Davis note, "There is one death by suicide in the world every 40 seconds, and suicide is the second leading cause of death for 15โ29 year olds. Experts say that one of the best ways to prevent suicide is for those in distress to hear from people who care about them." Facebook already provides suicide prevention tools -- rolled out over 10 years ago -- such as offering tips on how to find support and the option for users to report posts that contain self-harm or suicide-related content. The company is testing a new tool to aid this process: artificial intelligence.
