#artificialintelligence

Machine Learning and analytics company DataRPM joins nine other later-stage startups in being accepted for Microsoft's Machine Learning and Data Science Accelerator in Seattle. Award-winning predictive analytics company DataRPM has been selected to Microsoft's 4th generation of its prestigious Seattle Machine Learning Accelerator Program. Ten companies were selected overall from hundreds of applicants across the United States. Apart from making giant strides in disrupting the machine learning industry, the criteria for the accelerator took into consideration startups that have received an average 5.3 million in funding and 3 million in annual recurring revenue. Tracking The Megatrend of Mobility - CTOvision.com

#artificialintelligence

There are seven key megatrends driving the future of enterprise IT. You can remember them all with the helpful mnemonic acronym CAMBRIC, which stands for Cloud Computing, Artificial Intelligence, Mobility, Big Data, Robotics, Internet of Things, CyberSecurity. In this post we dive deeper into the trend of Mobility. This is the greatest leap in humanity's ability to stay connected since the advent of spoken word. The only thing that would be better than this always on continuously connected super computer in our pocket would be ESP.

My Chatbot-Powered Website Makeover

#artificialintelligence

TL;DR: A chatbot now lives on my personal, academic website (hamzaharkous.com). Go give it a spin and read below for the journey. Towards the end of the Ph.D. journey and the beginning of the job quest one, a website refresh seems like a natural step. This involves adding content, a few demos, and whatnot. This time, however, I decided to go with a twist.

Draper Satellite Image Chronology: Pure ML Solution Vicens Gaitan

#artificialintelligence

Can you put order to space and time? This was the challenge posed to competitors of the Draper Satellite Image Chronology Competition (Chronos) which ran on Kaggle from April to June 2016. Over four-hundred Kagglers chose a path somewhere between man and machine to accurately determine the chronological order of satellite images taken over five day spans. In collaboration with Kaggle, Draper designed the competition to stimulate the development of novel approaches to analyzing satellite imagery and other image-based datasets. In this spirit, competitors' solutions were permitted to rely on hand annotations as long as their methodologies were replicable.

Amazon Echo: Betting on artificial intelligence

Amazon launches the Amazon Echo, which is an artificially intelligent Bluetooth speaker and it is based on Amazon's cloud-based voice service, Alexa - this can make your house a whole lot smarter.

You Can Now Order Domino's Pizza Through A Facebook Messenger Bot

#artificialintelligence

After successfully launching a Facebook messenger chatbot in the UK and Ireland that takes customers' pizza orders, Domino's is now making the feature available stateside. Starting today, Domino's says customers with a "Pizza Profile" on the chain's website can place their orders via Messenger by communicating with a bot. Because at least pizza is a comfort when you think about how artificial intelligence will one day vanquish the human race, right? Customers can place and track their orders by clicking the message button on Domino's Facebook page or by searching for Domino's within the Messenger app. If you don't feel like using your words, you can also just send a pizza emoji to get the ball rolling.

Need Some AI? Yeah, There's a Marketplace for That

#artificialintelligence

Diego Oppenheimer is worried that the Googles and the Facebooks will dominate the world of artificial intelligence. Elon Musk and Sam Altman are worried about the same thing. That's why they created a startup called OpenAI. In recent years, Google and Facebook have snapped up so many researchers at the heart of the deep learning movement, an AI movement that's rapidly reinventing everything from speech recognition to security. So, Musk and Altman grabbed several top AI researchers from Google and Facebook and vowed to share their work with the world at large.

SwiftKey for Android is now powered by a neural network

Engadget

From today, the popular keyboard app SwiftKey will be powered by a neural network. The latest version of the app combines the features of its Neural Alpha, released last October, and its regular app in order to serve better predictions. It's the first major change to the main Swiftkey app since Microsoft acquired the London-based company earlier this year. Understanding why the new SwiftKey is going to be better than what came before it requires a little effort, but the real-world benefits are definitely tangible. See, the regular SwiftKey app has, since its inception, used a probability-based language algorithm based on the "n-gram" model for predictions.

Flight response

#artificialintelligence

ON JUNE 1st 2009, an Air France airliner travelling from Rio de Janeiro to Paris flew into a mid-Atlantic storm. Ice began forming in the sensors used by the aircraft to measure its airspeed, depriving the autopilot of that vital data. So, by design, the machine switched itself off and ceded control to the pilots. Without knowing their speed, and with no horizon visible in a storm in the dead of night, the crew struggled to cope. Against all their training, they kept the plane's nose pointed upward, forcing it to lose speed and lift.

Google Manual Penalty Recovery Guide - Xanjero

#artificialintelligence

A manual action essentially means being (at least temporarily) removed from the search engine's query results page. But in the worst case scenario, it means being entirely removed from the vast Google index. Google engineers call it a "timeout". Like a child who breaks the rules, punishment for a Google penalty is a site being set aside for a period of time. However, a severe penalty is disinclusion from the search engine's index (i.e. total removal).
