As many noted during the AI Now Experts' Workshop, the means to create and train AI systems are expensive and limited to a handful of large actors. Or, put simply, it's not possible to DIY AI without significant resources. Training AI models requires a huge amount of data โ€“ the more the better. It also requires significant computing power, which is expensive. This limits fundamental research to those who can afford such access, and thus limits the possibility of democratically creating AI systems that serve the goals of diverse populations.

For about a year I've come across a few stories about beauty contests being judged by robots, that is Artificial Intelligence. Google AI's photo recognition achieves 94 percent accuracy

We've all enjoyed the simple benefits of Google's artificial intelligence photo recognition. Google Photos employs a very stripped down version of the algorithm to identify pictures as containing cats, dogs, food, or specific people. However, the search giant has been working on much more advanced photo recognition capabilities, and today they've released their progress to developers. The Google Research Blog reports that the Google Brain team's AI image captioning system has achieved a 93.9 percent accuracy rating. Their results in 2014 used the Inception V1 image classification model and achieved 89.6 percent accuracy.

If you have a lot of files in Google Drive, you're going to love this. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a technical term for "search like you talk."
