Get Up to 36% Off With the Best Prime Day Kindle Deals (2026): Paperwhite, Colorsoft, Kids

WIRED

There's no better time to get a Kindle than during Amazon's own sale event. There's a pretty easy rule to buying a Kindle: Wait for a sale. Amazon's Prime Day Kindle deals, which happen every summer and fall, plus other sale events like Black Friday, always offer the best prices. While Amazon's summer Prime Days were in July in previous years, this year they arrived early, in June, and will run for almost a full week from June 23 until June 26. Any day during that sale is a great one to claim your own new Kindle e-reader from Amazon. The on-sale Kindles usually don't sell out, but if there's a specific color or storage size you want, you might want to snap that up early in case that specific version does sell out for a little bit.

99 Prime Day Deals on Gear We Stand By, Up To 50% Off (2026)

WIRED

The 99 Absolute Best Prime Day Deals We'd Spend Our Own Money On We've gone from A to Z to find Amazon's best Prime Day deals on the gear worth owning. Amazon Prime Day is here once again. Amazon's annual Prime Day deals aims to entice us with an endless scroll of "discounts (some real, many fake), hammering away with red slashes, big percentages off, and coupons you can only see after adding to cart. While Prime Day deals aren't what they once were--its success has inspired a massive number of fake deals and attracted obscure brands--there are still some very significant discounts to be found. For the next four days, the WIRED Reviews team will be pooling our hundreds of years of collective expertise to find actual savings on products we have personally tested and approved. Let us absorb the neon signage and "buy now" buttons on your behalf and share the deals worth sharing. We'll keep this list updated frequently for the duration of the sale, which runs from June 23 to June 26. This is our very favorite MagSafe power bank . Wireless and MagSafe charging aren't always the fastest or most efficient, but despite its bulk, this large-capacity bank can top off modern phones once (or maybe a little more than that) without overheating or taking forever. One of the best budget wireless chargers is even more affordable thanks to Prime Day. You can buy fancier, faster wireless chargers, but if you just want a simple option that'll top off your phone, this is worth checking out. It can deliver up to 10 watts, though you'll need to supply your own wall adapter. Want something that can fast charge your phone, juice up your tablet, and even refill your laptop? This generous 25,000-mAh capacity can do it all, but stops shy of the carry-on air travel limit. The maximum output is 165 watts for two devices, but 100 watts for a single device. It has lovely rounded edges, a retractable, flat, 2.3-foot USB-C cable on the top, and a snazzy, durable, braided 1-foot USB-C cable that doubles as a carry loop. Unlike so many Windows laptops around $500, the OmniBook 3 has excellent performance and battery life. And while the touchpad isn't the best, the specs alone make it the very best cheap laptop you can buy. You have to be careful when buying Chromebooks these days.

How to Opt Out of Google Search's New AI Data Training Feature

WIRED

Google's Search history update stores media uploads from your interactions, like images used in reverse image searches, for training its AI models. A little piece of my soul shrivels up every time I get a message laying out how another company plans to use personal data in ever encroaching ways for AI training . I got one of those emails recently from Google, with the subject line: "New privacy settings for Search services." It's part of Google's global rollout happening over the next few months that will change how it handles users' Search history data. Every piece of media, from photos you upload for reverse image searches to audio of you speaking with Google Translate, may be retained in your account and used to improve Google's AI models.

I Met With China's Top AI Experts. They're Freaking Out, Too

WIRED

The AI arms race between China and the US has researchers on both sides worried about a "Chernobyl moment." Just over a week ago, I attended a major artificial intelligence conference in Zhongguancun, Beijing's bustling high-tech district. It was packed with fascinating sessions touching on everything from recursive self-improvement--the idea that models can tweak their own code and advance indefinitely--to humanoid robots. And it featured a few legends of computing, including Whitfield Diffie, co-inventor of public-key cryptography, and Andrew Barto, who won the Turing Award with Rich Sutton for his pioneering work on reinforcement learning. But I left with one takeaway above all else: The US and China should put their fierce AI rivalry to the side.

Google Home Speaker Review: Leading the Pack, Again

WIRED

Google's first new smart speaker in six years is here and once again leads its competitors--now with paywalled features. Sounds a little more human than competitors. Gemini is helpful and smart. Some assistant features are hidden behind paywalls. Works best if you buy or have bought several Google devices for your home.
