See The Eerie Sci-Fi Movie Trailer Made By IBM's Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

With all the science fiction films trying to grab attention, how is a flick about artificial intelligence (AI) supposed to stand out? This is a trailer from 20th Century Fox about an AI that develops superhuman-like abilities. Oh, and it was made by an AI. Yes, that's right, that movie trailer was compiled by AI. The guys behind the sci-fi flick Morgan have tapped IBM's Watson to create of the the trailers for the movie.

Can artificial intelligence guide stock picks? - The Boston Globe

#artificialintelligence

If you've watched the television series 24 on Netflix, the online streaming service will recommend that you catch up on Homeland, too. Now, a Boston-based technology firm is hoping to bring that same intuitive technology to financial services. Start-up indico Data Solutions Inc. announced Friday that it is collaborating with John Hancock Financial and the Boston insurer's Canadian parent Manulife Financial Corp. to help financial analysts and portfolio managers cull through thousands of pieces of data and find the most important information. Based on that data, managers at Manulife and John Hancock will be able to make quicker decisions on whether to invest in certain companies and industries or sell their shares. Think of it as Google on steroids.

This AI Sees Things in Art That Humans Don't

#artificialintelligence

It might not be obvious to a human, but an artificial intelligence programme sees distinct similarities in, say, the composition of the subjects, or colour of their outfits. Called Recognition, the AI programme compares current photojournalism provided by Reuters with works from the Tate's collection to find its best match. It pairs the images based on image recognition techniques that analyse objects, faces, composition, and context gleaned from metadata. The AI matches a photo of eunuchs putting on makeup in Mumbai (Image: REUTERS/Danish Siddiqui TPX IMAGES OF THE DAY) with Sir Peter Lely's Two Ladies of the Lake Family c.1660 (Image: Tate) "We wanted to understand how we could bring artificial intelligence into a museum, and how rational and objective thinking could be applied to a subjective thing like art," said Angelo Semeraro of Italian research centre Fabrica. He and teammates Coralie Gourguechon, Monica Lanaro, and Isaac Valentin created the project to enter (and win) the Tate's 2016 IK Prize for digital innovation, which is run in partnership with Microsoft.

Morgan IBM Creates First Movie Trailer by AI [HD] 20th Century FOX

#artificialintelligence

Scientists at IBM Research have collaborated with 20th Century Fox to create the first-ever cognitive movie trailer for the movie Morgan. Utilizing experimental Watson APIs and machine learning techniques, the IBM Research system analyzed hundreds of horror/thriller movie trailers. After learning what keeps audiences on the edge of their seats, the AI system suggested the top 10 best candidate moments for a trailer from the movie Morgan, which an IBM filmmaker then edited and arranged together. A corporate troubleshooter (Kate Mara) is sent to a remote, top-secret location, where she is to investigate and evaluate a terrifying accident. She learns the event was triggered by a seemingly innocent "human," who presents a mystery of both infinite promise and incalculable danger.

IBM Watson created the first AI-made movie trailer, and its eerie

#artificialintelligence

Say what you will, but IBM Watson is one resourceful supercomputer. We've previously seen the AI describe the contents of photos, predict the most popular toys during Christmas season and gauge your emotional state โ€“ all of that with an exceptional accuracy. Now IBM Watson has added yet another skill to its arsenal as it just learned how to make movie trailers. Earlier this week, 20th Century Fox trusted the supercomputer with the task to create the trailer for its upcoming sci-fi drama Morgan. With this accomplishment, IBM Watson becomes the first-ever AI to produce a movie trailer.

Watch the first ever movie trailer made by artificial intelligence

#artificialintelligence

When it comes to a movie about the skills modern artificial intelligence can possess, it only seems appropriate to have an actual AI machine create a trailer for said film. Kate Mara's upcoming movie, Morgan, follows a corporate risk management consultant who has to decide whether she should kill an artificial intelligent being. To make the best trailer, IBM's Watson computer was consulted and tasked with making the scariest promotional video possible. The question that IBM's team ran into is how do you teach a machine driven by logic, algorithms and math to incorporate concepts like fear. In order to program Watson to understand what fear is, the research team at IBM got Watson to analyze 100 classic horror movies, examining each scene for consistencies and triggers that lead to the scarier aspects of the films.
