Superintelligence is also called "strong AI" and Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) among other things. It starts off as a smat process that grows smarter and smarter until it reaches and then exceeds Human Level Machine Intelligence (HLMI). This point is often called the singularity.

If fully automated vehicles become a reality someday – and it seems like we're moving in that direction at a fast clip – artificial intelligence will play an instrumental role. That's why Ford is pouring $1 billion into a Pittsburgh-based artificial-intelligence (AI) startup called Argo AI. And Toyota is collaborating with one of the biggest AI players – Nvidia – to develop AI hardware and software. The thinking is that AI has the power to recognize and react to the nearly infinite number of scenarios encountered on the road, because it has the capability to interpret the massive amount of data generated by the sensors and cameras in a vehicle – and make intelligent decisions based on that data. Nvidia says its Nvidia Drive PX platform can use AI to understand the 360-degree environment surrounding the car, localize itself on an HD map and anticipate potential hazards while driving – in a device that can fit in your hand.

In fact, transformed audio data can be used to predict the group of notes currently being played. This can be achieved by treating the transcription model as an image classification problem. For this, an image of an audio is used, called as Spectrogram. A Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) or a constant Q transform is used to create this spectrogram. The spectrogram is then feeded to a Convolutional Neural network(CNN).

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang showed up at a gathering of artificial intelligence researchers in Long Beach, Calif. One was an orchestral piece inspired by music from the Star Wars movies, but composed by an AI program from Belgian startup AIVA that--of course--relies on Nvidia chips. The music went over big with the crowd of AI geeks attending the Neural Information Processing Systems Conference, known as NIPS, including some giants in the field like Nicholas Pinto, head of deep learning at Apple, and Yann LeCun, director of AI Research at Facebook. LeCun was quoted saying the Star Wars bit was "a nice surprise." Huang's other surprise was a bit more practical, and showed just how competitive the AI chip market niche has become.

Artificial intelligence is a game-changer. Never in the history of human existence has there existed a technology with the power to wipe out cancer, end traffic accidents, and perhaps even formulate an actionable plan to reverse climate change. And fortunately for us, some of the smartest people in the world are working on ways to tap AI's immense power to do just that. Others are using it to create fake videos of celebrities getting fucked. So far the tool's creator has produced videos or GIFs of Gal Gadot (now deleted), Maisie Williams, Taylor Swift, Aubrey Plaza, Emma Watson, and Scarlett Johansson, each with varying levels of success.

But that job is suddenly looking iffy as A.I. gets better at reading scans. A start-up called Arterys, to cite just one example, already has a program that can perform a magnetic-resonance imaging analysis of blood flow through a heart in just 15 seconds, compared with the 45 minutes required by humans. Maybe she wants to be a surgeon, but that job may not be safe, either. Robots already assist surgeons in removing damaged organs and cancerous tissue, according to Scientific American. Last year, a prototype robotic surgeon called STAR (Smart Tissue Autonomous Robot) outperformed human surgeons in a test in which both had to repair the severed intestine of a live pig.
