Here's how AI computer vision is transforming photography

#artificialintelligence

We've now come to expect that every year when all of the major phone companies announce their latest models, that the camera will receive an upgrade. Each year, we can be sure that the mobile industry's hardware engineers have gone that little bit further in order to one-up the competition. But it is only within the last couple of years or so that this hardware arms race has been upset. The battle to create the best camera is no longer a question of hardware (though it doesn't hurt). The real battle, thanks to the rise of artificial intelligence, is in software.

[D] Introduction to Various Reinforcement Learning Algorithms. Part I (Q-Learning, SARSA, DQN, DDPG) โ€ข r/MachineLearning

@machinelearnbot

I should have mentioned that model-based learning allows the agent to plan ahead. For that statement, I am talking about the transition probability T(s', s, a). You are going from current state s to the next state s' after taking action a, and you have to store all the combinations. I will be very appreciated if you can point out the typo lol.

Journalism, Media and Technology Trends and Predictions 2018

#artificialintelligence

This report by Nic Newman looks ahead at the trends in media and technology that will shape the news industry in 2018. This will be a critical year for the relationship between publishers and platforms, as companies like Google and Facebook fight a rising tide of criticism about their impact on society โ€“ and on journalism. News business models are shifting from advertising towards subscription and other forms of reader payment. Media companies will be actively moving customers from the'anonymous to the known' so they can develop more loyal relationships and prepare for an era of more personalised services. Must Read Books For Analysts/People Interested In Analytics

@machinelearnbot

One of the ways I continue my learning is reading. I read for 30 minutes before hitting the bed every day. This not only makes sure that I learn some thing daily, but also ends my day in a fulfilling manner. Over the years, I have read a variety of books on various subjects. In this article, I will share a list of 7 must read books, which I think should be present in every Analyst's bookshelf.

You could talk to your dog in ten years time

Daily Mail - Science & tech

In just ten years time your dog could talk to you instead of barking, according to leading experts. Advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning mean the Dr Dolittle dream of communicating with animals could soon be a reality. One researcher is currently collecting thousands of videos of dogs barking, growling and moving around, and is using them to teach an algorithm to understand canine communication. Professor Con Slobodchikoff from Northern Arizona University is developing new technology that interprets the calls of the prairie dog and says it could eventually be used to interpret other animals. North American rodents prairie dogs have a sophisticated ways of calling group members and alerting them to danger.

Automated Text Classification Using Machine Learning

#artificialintelligence

Digitization has changed the way we process and analyze information. There is an exponential increase in online availability of information. From web pages to emails, science journals, e-books, learning content, news and social media are all full of textual data. The idea is to create, analyze and report information fast. This is when automated text classification steps up.

Prince William Wearing Scrub Suit Likened To 'Grey's Anatomy' Character McDreamy

International Business Times

Prince William recently wore a scrub suit during his visit to the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in London. People likened the duke's appearance to Dr. McDreamy (Patrick Dempsey) from "Grey's Anatomy" since both men wore scrub suits. And since McDreamy is no longer part of the hit ABC TV series, the publication noted that Prince William was there to fill in the void even though it's only temporary. The Duke of Cambridge got a closer look at two top surgeons using advanced robotic surgical technology called a da Vinci XI machine. He also watched the two surgeons operate on two cancer patients.

AI-Powered 'Intelligent' Marketing Will Keep It Real

#artificialintelligence

Last year I attended the Marketo Marketing Nation Summit and had the opportunity to be entertained by keynote speaker James Corden of the CBS Late Late Show and of "carpool karaoke" fame. Central to Corden's talk was the importance of truth and transparency in both comedy and marketing. And aside from the obvious irony in today's era of alternative facts and fake news, he made a great argument for keeping things real. In addition to Corden, the buzz at the summit was all about the latest trends in marketing tech, particularly artificial intelligence (AI). Comments about AI's ability to facilitate listening, personalization and campaign management at scale floated around the halls and meeting rooms, causing almost everyone to wonder about the possibilities.

Decoding Artificial Intelligence: What Does It Really Mean For Lawyers?

#artificialintelligence

When you mention artificial intelligence (AI), plenty of images come to mind, thanks in large part to Hollywood depictions of the rise of the machines. While robots have yet to take over the world, many less threatening examples of AI have dominated our culture, from our everyday interactions with Siri or Alexa, to Google's self-driving car, or to Ken Jennings losing to Watson on Jeopardy! In reality, AI has already worked its way into our lives in ways that are far less sensational or even noticeable. Today's definition of AI is fluid, and the countless companies offering AI solutions in the market have as many different definitions for the concept as there are products. In short, the term "AI" is widely used to describe any computing function that mimics human intelligence or thinking.
