[D] Inductive bias of reinforcement learning ? • r/MachineLearning

@machinelearnbot

In (deep) RL, lots of inductive biases are already built-in. Other inductive biases that I believe (and many RL/AI researchers have argued) should be there include "curiosity" and "representation at object / event level", although successful attempts so far are restricted to symbolic representations, AFAIK.

Alexa voice control has arrived on Android!

#artificialintelligence

"Alexa, can you order me a pizza from Dominos?" "Alexa, do you know Siri?" These are just some of the questions you might enjoy asking Alexa on your smartphone now that Amazon has brought the voice control feature to the Android version of the app. But before you start geeking out, here's the rundown of the most recent update: Until recently, the Amazon Alexa app could only be used to control settings for the Echo, Dot, and other supported devices. Considering what the AI-powered assistant is actually capable of, this is nothing to get excited about. But now all that has changed as Amazon brings voice control to the Android version of the app, making Alexa a full-fledge digital assistant on Android handsets.

How AI is Revolutionising Music Artknews

#artificialintelligence

In my last post, I started the investigation into artificial intelligence by taking a look at how the art industry is being changed by advances in AI and machine learning technologies. Today, we're going to dig a little deeper into AI's impact on the creative arts by seeing how it relates to music. You're probably already familiar with machine learning when it comes to music, even if you don't know it. Spotify uses it to power their recommendations in the same way that Netflix uses it to suggest movies that you might like. But classifying music and making recommendations is nothing when compared to what AI itself is capable of.

Twitter and Pornhub ban 'deepfake' face-swap porn videos

The Guardian

Films depicting celebrities' faces superimposed on to adult film actors using AI also banned from Gfycat, but not Reddit Wed 7 Feb 2018 05.38 EST Last modified on Wed 7 Feb 2018 05.39 EST Twitter and Pornhub have become the latest platforms to ban pornography made using AI-generated face-swap technology – known as "deepfakes" – as non-consensual porn. There has been an explosion in the creation of videos that use cutting-edge machine learning techniques to superimpose the faces of female celebrities on to explicit clips, due to the release of a desktop app that streamlines the process in January. But critics have condemned the videos as tantamount to revenge porn – an accusation which appears to have stuck. Gif hosting service Gfycat, which was the most popular way of sharing the short pornographic clips, also banned them, citing terms of service (TOS) that allows it to remove "objectionable" content. Now, adult entertainment site Pornhub and Twitter have followed Gfycat in banning the content.

What reviewers are saying about Apple HomePod

Boston Herald

The tech giant announced the HomePod speaker last summer, and originally planned to release it in December. However, Apple aapl then delayed the HomePod's debut, reportedly to modify its software. Now that the HomePod is nearing arrival, it faces stiff competition from competing web-connected speakers like the Amazon amzn Echo, Google goog Home, and Sonos One. The HomePod is the priciest of the speakers at $350. So far, reviewers seem pleased with the HomePod's sound quality, but are underwhelmed by the version of Apple's voice activated Siri digital assistant used in the speaker.

Apple's HomePod faces a challenge the company is totally unfamiliar with

Boston Herald

"Hey Siri, why should I buy a HomePod?" If you were to ask that question a few months ago, the answer may have been more clear. When Apple unveiled its $349 Siri-equipped HomePod speaker in June, it was poised to fill a big hole in the smart speaker market. While the Amazon Echo and Google Home were pretty good at answering questions, they wouldn't blow anybody away when it came to audio quality. Apple, then, pitched its smart speaker as a piece of high-end audio gear aimed at music aficionados, with Siri on board as a bonus. But the HomePod, which finally starts shipping this week, was delayed for several months.

The Impact Of Artificial Intelligence Over The Next Half Decade

#artificialintelligence

For those who may find awkward the reference to "half a decade" and not the "next decade" here is why: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is evolving at such a staggering rate that it is simply not possible to foresee what it will represent in 10 years' time. As Maurice Conti (Chief Innovation Officer at Telefónica Alpha and former director at Autodesk) reminded us in his TEDx talk in February 2017, that in the human history the "Hunter-Gatherer" age lasted for several million years, then the agricultural age lasted several thousand years, the industrial age has been around for a couple of centuries now, the information age has merely a few decades, and the AI age (although the concept was drawn in the 1950s) has in fact effectively started less than half a decade ago. It is very easy to mistake AI for RPA (Robotic Process Automation), so let's start by defining what sets them apart. RPA results from developing detail instructions that are translated into code which a computer interprets while actuating a robot. Therefore, RPA enables the integration with mechatronics (robotic physical machines) to partially or fully automate human activities which are manual, repetitive and rule-based.

4 Ways Artificial Intelligence can Help your Website and Business

#artificialintelligence

You may not realize this, but all of us in some way have used or have associated with Artificial Intelligence. Sometimes it can be hard to tell such as; a phone call which sounds like a real person who is actually responding to what you say or even an online customer service portal that answers your questions. We may not be living in a world like the films iRobot or Ex Machina right now, but we are constantly moving forward with AI to a point where that could be a reality. AI technology comes in handy for many different businesses, especially ones with a website. There are many ways and reasons to use AI to help better your online business no matter how big or small.

Mitigating Bias in Artificial Intelligence (AI) Models -- IBM Research

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence (AI) holds significant power to improve the way we live and work, but AI systems are only as effective as the data they're trained on. Bad training data can lead to higher error rates and biased decision making, even when the underlying model is sound.

Artificial Intelligence race with China: Panel to create road map

#artificialintelligence

NEW DELHI: To counter China's commitment towards artificial intelligence, the government has formed a high-level committee headed by NITI Aayog vice chairman Rajiv Kumar to lay out a roadmap for India's research and development on AI and its applications.
