This US start-up is tapping collective human intelligence for AI

#artificialintelligence

The mere mention of artificial intelligence (AI) often conjures up images of ultraintelligent robots that process millions of gigabytes of data, before spitting out insights that would have taken humans months of laborious work. But a US-based start-up believes that humans still need to be at the centre of it all. San Francisco-based Unanimous AI has developed artificial intelligence technology based on swarm intelligence โ€“ known as the collective behaviour often displayed when groups of people or animals amplify intelligence by working together as a group. The company blends human decision-making processes with AI algorithms to determine the best solution in a question posed to a group of human participants, referred to as a swarm. The swarm is tasked with collectively finding the best answer to the question posed to them, while Unanimous AI's algorithms assess everything from the amount of time it takes for a participant to come to a decision and even the level of conviction they have in their choice.

Healthcare Artificial Intelligence Software, Hardware, and Services Market to Reach $19.3 Billion Worldwide by 2025

#artificialintelligence

Healthcare has undergone a transformation over the past several years, shifting from paper-based records systems to electronic records, as well as incorporating digital health monitoring devices and other advanced patient screening systems. These advances have led to an explosion of data, which can best be manipulated and analyzed by artificial intelligence (AI) technology. In healthcare, according to a new report from Tractica, AI is largely being implemented as a tool to more efficiently and accurately review data, and uncover patterns in the data that can be used to improve analyses, uncover inefficiencies, and streamline care, from both a clinical and an operational perspective. The market intelligence firm finds that the overarching driver in these AI implementations is to provide better care for patients, while reducing costs and administrative headaches and bottlenecks. Tractica forecasts that global software revenue from 21 key healthcare AI use cases will grow from $165 million in 2017 to $5.6 billion annually by 2025.

Marketers have become more receptive to the adoption of artificial intelligence technologies, such as machine learning, and their capabilities to deliver better customer experience and marketing performance, according to new research from SEO and content performance marketing firm BrightEdge. The future of marketing is here. David Meerman Scott, who pioneered the practice, wants to give you the lowdown on how to inject your ideas into a breaking news story to get the coverage you want. Most notably, this year's findings revealed 60 percent of marketers intend to use AI to develop content marketing strategy in 2018.

Fooling all the people all the time: the rise of artificial intelligence and fake news

#artificialintelligence

Modern artificial intelligence is way beyond playing chess; it has mastered Go and kicks butt in Dota 2, among other games. What started as a test-lab monkey has evolved into something akin to a prodigy child. Artificial intelligence, or AI, may still have to be fed information, but once it has gathered enough, it can come up with results that mimic the original data. First came the static images -- AI managed to create perfectly convincing images of people who have never existed. Then it showed it was perfectly capable of mimicking different seasons.
