r/MachineLearning - [R] Call for Papers: Shared Visual Representations in Human and Machine Intelligence (SVRHM) NeurIPS 2019 workshop

#artificialintelligence

The goal of the Shared Visual Representations in Human and Machine Intelligence (SVRHM) workshop at NeurIPS 2019 is to discuss and disseminate relevant findings and parallels between the computational neuro/cognitive science and machine learning/artificial intelligence communities. In the past few years, machine learning tools -- especially deep neural networks -- have permeated the vision/cognitive/neuro science communities to become the leading computational models that describe many cognitive tasks. Huge strides are also being made on the machine learning/artificial intelligence community with biologically inspired algorithms providing large efficiency gains in both computational and learning capabilities. However, many mysteries remain with regards to the alignment of human and machine perception, and there are cases where we see divergent rather than convergent representations. To resolve such questions, this workshop aims to bring fruitful discussions between scientists and engineers with multi-disciplinary backgrounds to review the recent progress in shared visual representations in both humans and machines, and in doing so identifying road-blocks and areas of interest to further accelerate the growth of both fields.

OpenAI Just Released an Even Scarier Fake News-Writing Algorithm

#artificialintelligence

OpenAI, the AI company that Elon Musk founded and then quit, has just released a more powerful version of its AI text-writing software. The company still won't release their full software - that can be used to write fake news and messages en masse - due to fears it might be misused. OpenAI says its text-writing system is so advanced it can write news stories and even fiction that passes as human. A user can feed the system text - anything from a few sentences to pages of it - and the system will then continue that same text in an uncannily well-written, contextually relevant, human style. However, after releasing its original system, GPT-2, in February, the company said the full software was too dangerous to release to the public - a weaker version was made available. Now, the company has announced it has released a version of GPT-2 that is six times more powerful.

State of Media Report: AI Edition - HighwirePR

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence "AI," is one of the most talked about topics in the media today. In fact, according to data from TechNews, since January, there have been an average of 4,000 articles per month that mention AI. From the role AI is playing in helping autonomous vehicles make decisions in milliseconds to how it is providing recommendations to healthcare providers about potentially life saving treatment options to all of the "boring" AI uses in between, we read about and engage with AI on a daily basis. However, with all of the buzz that AI is creating, there are some areas of concern including the ethical debate surrounding AI and whether or not AI will take jobs away. Additionally, it is becoming increasingly difficult for organizations to cut through the noise the topic of AI is creating.

r/MachineLearning - [P] Introducing Deepkit - the first collaborative desktop app for deep learning experiments. Experiment tracking, model debugging, infrastructure management.

#artificialintelligence

An app that helps you visualize, debug, track, and run ML/DL experiments, directly on your workstation or on your own servers, in your LAN or in the cloud. Deepkit will be free for individual users and available in all app stores. You can use the app alone or use the real-time collaborative features within a team using the Deepkit team server. We're are looking for alpha users that want to help us building a better, cheaper and more efficient way of doing ML/DL experiments. If you're interested, please register at the website directly or use this link.

Intercon World Keynote Dr. Ganapathi Pulipaka Receives a Top 50 Technology Leader Award for His Contributions to AI, Machine Learning, Mathematics, and Data Science

#artificialintelligence

At the Intercon conference, Dr. GP gave a motivational keynote speech on Deep Reinforcement Learning and the landscape of machine learning and artificial intelligence that inspired the audience. He noted that the MIT Technology Review has downloaded 16,625 research papers from arxiv that are publicly available under the computer science and artificial intelligence section through November 2018. Through natural language processing techniques on the abstracts, the words "constraint," "theory," "rule," "logic," "program," "learning," "network," "data," "task," and "performance" have been evaluated to find the reinforcement learning boom in recent times. Dr. GP said trends have shown the rise of traditional neural networks in the 1950s and 1960s, symbolic approaches in the 1970s, knowledge-based and rule-based systems in 1980s, support vector machines in 1990s, and the reign of neural networks in the 2010s with the advent of heavy implementation of deep neural networks. Deep Traffic is a reinforcement learning simulation based on the 24,000 entries received on MIT's Deep Traffic competition on self-driving cars that drive on a multi-lane freeway with a model-free off-policy reinforcement learning process that inspires a number of data scientists and machine learning enthusiasts to evaluate the Deep-Q-Learning reinforcement learning network variants and hyperparameter configurations with episodic iterations training of 96.6 years of RL simulations, 572.2 million crowdsourced and optimized DQN hyperparameters to train the agents successfully.

r/artificial - History of ArtificialIntelligence

#artificialintelligence

Japan's Fifth Generation AI is notable. They thought they had figured out how to do AI; just put the use the rules of mathematical logic (logic programming) into a computer and you will get StrongAI. But this is a simplistic view of how intelligence works. Today these shortcomings are referred to as Philosopher's Disease. The first outbreak was with Aristotle and his friends.

Obsbot Tail AI Camera Review - Perfect Vlogging Camera? - Reviewify

#artificialintelligence

Obsbot Tail is an AI driven camera originally crowdfunded on Indigogo and Kickstarter, which is ideal for those who film solo but would like movement while filming. I was a backer and had a delay in arrival while the campaign progressed, something you won't experiance as it's now widely available via Amazon. I was impressed with the packaging, it's a professional looking product that arrived in a mostly black box with a red panel from the inner box. Opening it up I found the Obsbot snugly tucked away in the included carry case, a great addition as this has been designed with portability in mind, along with USB type C charging cable. I found setup very simple, I download a companion app to my mobile, powered on Obsbot and connected to its Wi-Fi.
