Madonna: Trump like death
Madonna has yet to come to terms with the 2016 presidential election results. The singer told Billboard she felt a combination of "heartbreak and betrayal" when Donald Trump was announced as the President-elect. "It felt like someone died," she told Billboard. "It felt like a combination of the heartbreak and betrayal you feel when someone you love more than anything leaves you, and also a death." Billboard's Woman of the Year said every morning she wakes up and remembers that Donald Trump "is still the president."
Microsoft Researchers Predict What's Coming in AI for the Next Decade
Seventeen Microsoft researchers--all of whom happen to be women this year--have made their calls for what will be hot in the burgeoning realm of artificial intelligence (AI) in the next decade. Ripping a page out of the IBM ibm 5 for 5 playbook, Microsoft msft likes to use these annual predictions to showcase the work of its hotshot research brain trust. Some of the picks are already familiar. One is about how advances in deep learning--which endows computers with human-like thought processes--will make computers or other smart devices more intuitive and easier to use. This is something we've all heard before, but the work is not done, I guess.

The pace of attacks shows no sign of slowing, and organizations understand that 100 percent prevention of attacks is not possible. Traditional prevention and detection techniques are falling short, and security professionals are scrambling for new paradigms that can more effectively detect attacks and mitigate the growing levels of damage. In this climate of confusion, deception-based solutions offer a viable and proven way to stop attackers in their tracks. Because instead of sitting back and waiting to be the victim, detection technologies let organizations be proactive and take the attack to the attacker. We've compiled a list of top five reasons why more security teams are opting for deception: Yet next-generation firewalls, DLPs and antivirus solutions all rely on signatures and reputation to accomplish (or not accomplish) their task.
Refugees In Canada: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau Wants To Modernize Immigration System To Help Syrians
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is seeking to modernize the system that helps refugees in Canada to make the process more efficient for government and less frustrating for families. Trudeau said during a meeting with a group of Syrian refugees and their sponsors Friday that he'd experienced frustrations from the inefficient system since his time as a member of parliament and that "significant improvements in the immigration system" were needed. "Because of this level of frustration that I've seen as an MP and because families live with, one of the things that we've committed to is actually properly resourcing our immigration system," said Trudeau. "Looking at how we can be much more computer-based so that you can see real-time updates and we don't have to hire someone to answer you and we can use modern technology." Piali Roy, a sponsor of six refugees, told Trudeau during the meeting that she'd experienced significant difficulty while trying to get information about a family member who had been left behind in Beirut.
Russian MPs accuse FIFA 17 video game of 'gay propaganda'
Russian MPs have asked the state communications oversight agency to take action against the FIFA 17 video game for violating the country's law against gay propaganda. Communist MPs sent a letter to the communications oversight and state consumer protection agencies complaining that the popular EA Sports football game, which is rated all ages, "invites users to support the English football premier league's Rainbow Laces action, a massive campaign in support of LGBT", Izvestia newspaper reported. Premier League backs LGBT rainbow laces campaign for weekend's matches According to the 2013 law, such propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations can cause "harm to children's health and development", the letter said. The UK-based LGBT rights group Stonewall began the Rainbow Laces campaign last month to combat homophobia, biphobia and transphobia in football, noting that 72% of fans had heard anti-LGBT remarks at games over the past five years. Premier League matches and social media platforms have featured materials from the campaign.
Small Business Column: Artificial intelligence and robotics in the workplace
In this week's column Kehlan looks at the growing influence of artificial intelligence and robotics in the workplace and how nearly half of all human jobs could be obsolete within the next few decades. During the American presidential election we saw Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both work hard on getting votes within the'rust belt' area of America. Steel mill towns and coal districts with jobs that went somewhere else or just went altogether. What wasn't a significant talking point, and was missed by many commentators, was those jobs that are gone forever. Humans are being replaced by robotics and that will only increase in the next number of decades.

Apple offers views on automated car policy, but cagey about its plans
Apple has said in comments to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it is "excited" about the potential use of automated systems in many areas, including transportation. The company's director of product integrity Steve Kenner wrote that Apple is "investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation, and is excited about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation." Kenner did not say if the company would design or make self-driving vehicles or perhaps only license some of its machine learning software to car makers, reflecting Apple's continued reticence on its plans for the automated vehicles market. The company could not be immediately reached for more information on its plans. Apple is already doing deals with car makers in the area of iPhone integration.
