'Robolawyers' among futuristic ideas backed by £10m innovation fund
How can you design an ethical robot lawyer? What regulations are needed for flying taxis? These are some of the questions the British government is hoping to answer with a new £10m fund for futuristic projects that pose significant challenges to existing rules and regulations. The business secretary, Greg Clark, said the regulators' pioneer fund, being awarded to 15 projects, would help regulators "unblock" innovation that might otherwise be hampered by red tape. Clark said the move would show that Britain had a flexible regulatory environment which could keep pace with technology.
European Court of Human Right Open Data project
This paper presents thirteen datasets for binary, multiclass and multilabel classification based on the European Court of Human Rights judgments since its creation. The interest of such datasets is explained through the prism of the researcher, the data scientist, the citizen and the legal practitioner. Contrarily to many datasets, the creation process, from the collection of raw data to the feature transformation, is provided under the form of a collection of fully automated and open-source scripts. It ensures reproducibility and a high level of confidence in the processed data which is some of the most important issues in data governance nowadays.

Maltese Prime Minister looks at Artificial Intelligence as a benefit to blockchain technology
Recently at the Delta Summit, the Prime Minister of Malta, Joseph Muscat spoke about the blockchain technology and the need for governments to understand the need for regulation. He also mentioned that Artificial Intelligence and best-in-class regulatory framework were the areas that were next in focus for the Malta government. The Prime Minister stated that the Artificial Intelligence technology can be beneficial to the blockchain industry. "We are sure that with AI we can replicate and improve what we are doing now here with blockchain." Joseph stated that they were moving away from a business model based on "decentralization of data."

Artificial intelligence is the new golden ring for cybersecurity developers, thanks to its potential to not just automate functions at scale but also to make contextual decisions based on what it learns over time. This can have big implications for security personnel--all too often, companies simply don't have the resources to search through the haystack of anomalies for the proverbial malicious needle. For instance, if a worker normally based in New York suddenly one morning logs in from Pittsburgh, that's an anomaly -- and the AI can tell that's an anomaly because it has learned to expect that user to be logging in from New York. Similarly, if a log-in in Pittsburgh is followed within a few minutes of another log-in by the same user from, say, California, that's likely a malicious red flag. So, at its simplest level, AI and "machine learning" is oriented around understanding behavioral norms.

MIT builds Artificial Intelligence system that can detect 85% of Cyber Attacks
In Brief What if we could Predict when a cyber attack is going to occur before it actually happens and prevent it? Security researchers at MIT have developed a new Artificial Intelligence-based cyber security platform, called'AI2,' which has the ability to predict, detect, and stop 85% of Cyber Attacks with high accuracy. Cyber security is a major challenge in today's world, as government agencies, corporations and individuals have increasingly become victims of cyber attacks that are so rapidly finding new ways to threaten the Internet that it's hard for good guys to keep up with them. A group of researchers at MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) are working with machine-learning startup PatternEx to develop a line of defense against such cyber threats. The team has already developed an Artificial Intelligence system that can detect 85 percent of attacks by reviewing data from more than 3.6 Billion lines of log files each day and informs anything suspicious.
