Last year, the U.S. National Security Commission on Artificial Intelligence concluded in a report to Congress that AI is "world altering." AI is also mind altering as the AI-powered machine is now becoming the mind. This is an emerging reality of the 2020s. As a society, we are learning to lean on AI for so many things that we could become less inquisitive and more trusting of the information we are provided by AI-powered machines.


What Is The "Great Reset" And What Do The Globalists Actually Want?

I first heard the phrase "Great Reset" way back in 2014. Christine Lagarde, who was head of the IMF at the time, was suddenly becoming very vocal about global centralization. It was an agenda that was generally only whispered about in the dark corners of institutional white papers and the secretive meetings of banking elites, but now these people were becoming rather loud about it. Lagarde was doing a Q&A at the World Economic Forum and the notion of the "Reset" was very deliberately brought up; what the project entailed was vague, but the basic root of it was a dramatic shift away from the current economic, social and political models of the world into a globally centralized and integrated system – A "New World Order," if you will… It's important to remember that we had just jumped through the fires of an international credit collapse which started in 2008 and had continued to cause uncertainty in markets for years. The central banks had dumped tens of trillions of dollars worth of stimulus into the system just to keep it on life support.

Why it matters: AI developers say these tools can help relieve a stressed health care system and improve critical medical decision-making, but experts caution about the risk of overdiagnosis that could drive up health spending and bring the possibility of unnecessary, risky biopsies. Where it stands: Since the FDA began regulating algorithms as medical devices a few years ago, there's been a surge in computer models developed to help detect and diagnose cancer and to assist in prioritizing the workflow of radiologists. The next frontier for AI in cancer pathology is to use biological markers "to predict a clinical outcome that we don't easily predict today," says David Klimstra, the chief medical officer and co-founder of PaigeAI. Keep in mind: FDA clearance is a lower bar than FDA approval when it comes to medical devices, including AI. Yes, but: There is a risk of false positives and unnecessary treatment.

Boston Dynamics' robot dog, Spot, will help archaeologists and preservation crews by patrolling the 66-hectare site for signs of erosion, damage, and looting. The volcanic ash that buried Pompeii in 79 CE turned a thriving Roman coastal city into a well-preserved tomb--and a time capsule. Today, the archaeological site is one of the most famous in the world, and it continues to reveal new glimpses of life in a cosmopolitan Roman city during the empire's heyday, like an ancient fast-food counter excavated in 2020. But in 2013, UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) found that erosion and weathering were taking a toll on the parts of the site archaeologists had excavated so far. To protect the ruined city and keep restoration workers safe, park authorities needed to find new ways to monitor for damage, restore ancient structures, and preserve them for the future.

Artificial Intelligence's Promise and Peril

John Quackenbush was frustrated with Google. It was January 2020, and a team led by researchers from Google Health had just published a study in Nature about an artificial intelligence (AI) system they had developed to analyze mammograms for signs of breast cancer. The system didn't just work, according to the study, it worked exceptionally well. When the team fed it two large sets of images to analyze--one from the UK and one from the U.S.--it reduced false positives by 1.2 and 5.7 percent and false negatives by 2.7 and 9.4 percent compared with the original determinations made by medical professionals. In a separate test that pitted the AI system against six board-certified radiologists in analyzing nearly 500 mammograms, the algorithm outperformed each of the specialists. The authors concluded that the system was "capable of surpassing human experts in breast cancer prediction" and ready for clinical trials. An avalanche of buzzy headlines soon followed. "Google AI system can beat doctors at detecting breast cancer," a CNN story declared.

Oakland, California – When Silicon Valley chipmaker Marvell learned that one of its chips was found in a Russian surveillance drone recovered in 2016, it set out to investigate how that came to be. The chip, which costs less than $2, was shipped in 2009 to a distributor in Asia, which sold it to another broker in Asia, which later went out of business. "We couldn't trace it any further," Marvell Technology Group Chief Operations Officer Chris Koopmans said in a recent interview. Years later, it reappeared in the drone recovered in Lithuania. Marvell's experience is one of myriad examples of how chipmakers lack ability to track where many of their lower-end products end up, executives and experts said.
