It turns out Earth is not the only planet humans are contaminating. A new image snapped by NASA's Perseverance rover captures the sad reality of how we are already littering Mars with rubbish. Engineers discovered a discarded thermal blanket which they said was used to protect the car-sized vehicle from extreme temperatures it experienced during landing. 'It's a surprise finding this here,' they said, as Perseverance's descent took place just over a mile away from where the debris was found. The team added: 'Did this piece land here after that, or was it blown here by the wind?' It is not the first time a bit of wreckage has been spotted on the Red Planet this year.

Microsoft and the Museum of Art and Photography (MAP), here on Friday announced the launch of a new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered platform for connecting artworks and cultures around the world. The platform called INTERWOVEN is rooted in MAP's vast collection of South Asian textiles and was developed as part of Microsoft's AI for Cultural Heritage initiative, which leverages technology to empower people and organisations dedicated to the preservation and enrichment of art and culture. INTERWOVEN brings together collections from key institutions and partners across the world alongside MAP's (including the V&A in London, MET in New York, Rietberg in Zurich and the Royal Ontario Museum in Canada) to reveal connections between artworks from different cultures, mediums and time periods. A NEW tool has emerged online, which uses artificial intelligence to generate a sketch of subjects based on a phrase typed into a search bar. Artificial intelligence refers to computers which have been given the ability to solve problems like humans. In this case, the DALL-E-mini generator uses images from a series of large internet databases to generate a sketch of a phrase – which sometimes comes back with a clear image and other times not.
