What is natural language processing? The business benefits of NLP explained
Natural language processing (NLP) is the branch of artificial intelligence (AI) that deals with communication: How can a computer be programmed to understand, process, and generate language just like a person? While the term originally referred to a system's ability to read, it's since become a colloquialism for all computational linguistics. Subcategories include natural language generation (NLG) -- a computer's ability to create communication of its own -- and natural language understanding (NLU) -- the ability to understand slang, mispronunciations, misspellings, and other variants in language. Natural language processing works through machine learning (ML). Machine learning systems store words and the ways they come together just like any other form of data.
Learning Analytics – From Reactive To Predictive - eLearning Industry
While the term Learning Analytics has been around for some time, it has been mostly restricted to data collecting from the Learning Management Systems, such as completions data. Learning Analytics has to evolve beyond simply reporting to making predictions. We discuss current trends in Learning Analytics and how xAPI, Artificial Intelligence will impact it.

ESA hasn't received an invite to discuss video games with Trump
Yesterday, White House press secretary Sarah Sanders claimed that President Trump was planning to meet with "members of the video game industry" to discuss violence in video games and how it might play into the spat of school violence that has plagued the country for years now. But it seems Sanders may have gotten ahead of herself -- the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), which represents the US video game industry, released a statement last night saying that neither it nor non of its members received an invitation to talk with the president.
We Do Not Need Yet Another "Conversation" About Video Games and Violence
Future Tense is a partnership of Slate, New America, and Arizona State University that examines emerging technologies, public policy, and society. Within 48 hours of the Parkland, Florida, shooting, Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin blamed the 17 deaths at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on entertainment and video games. "It's not the gun" that's responsible for the murders, he said. As Bevin repeated his obtuse theory over the ensuing days, President Trump echoed it, saying Feb. 23 that he is "hearing more and more people say the level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts." It came up again at Trump's roundtable discussion Wednesday about school shootings.
How Legal AI became more accurate than lawyers
This prophecy came a step closer this week as legal AI proved itself more accurate than lawyers for the first time on a staple legal task –reviewing and approving contracts. The study was overseen by top US law schools and veteran corporate lawyers (including for instance Bruce Mann, a former senior partner at top US law firm, Morrison Foerster -- a Harvey Specter- like deal-maker who has handled more than 300 IPOs and over 200 mergers & acquisitions). In the controlled experiment, 20 top US-trained lawyers took on a legal AI platform, LawGeex. Both the experienced corporate lawyers and the AI pored over five unseen Non-Disclosure Agreements to find a list of common 30 issues (vetted by contract experts from Duke University and the University of Southern California). Each participant (the AI included) was given 4 hours to issues spot clauses in the contracts.

Plexuss: college comparison and recruitment platform Plexuss facilitates contact between universities and future students, and aims to help students make an informed decision when it comes to choosing the right university.
Trump will meet video game execs to discuss school violence
NEW: President Trump to meet with video game industry executives next week as part of ongoing debate over school safety. This sounds strangely like the discussion that came up following the Columbine high school shootings in 1999; violent video games and heavy metal music were both seen as culprits that contributed to the two shooters' violent state of mind. The theory that violent video games lead to real-life violence has come up time and again, but there haven't been any conclusive studies showing that to be the case. Just last month, the University of York published a study finding "no evidence" to support a link between violent video games and violent behavior. Back in 2015, the American Psychological found a link between violent video games and increased aggression, but failed to find sufficient evidence to link violent games and criminal violence.
Why Trump is inviting the video game industry to a White House meeting
President Trump has invited representatives of the video game industry to a meeting at the White House next week, days after he suggested a link between violent games and a recent spate of deadly school shootings including in Parkland, Fla. Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced the upcoming session during her press briefing Thursday, though she and other White House officials did not immediately offer an official list of attendees. In the aftermath of the attack on Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, which left 17 students dead, Trump said that the "level of violence on video games is really shaping young people's thoughts." In 2013, President Barack Obama called on Congress to set aside $10 million and allow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to study whether violent video games and other media contributed to gun violence. But lawmakers never lifted a ban on the agency that prevents it from conducting such research.
