The six month course is aimed at working professionals and students. The classes will be conducted in the weekends in Kolkata and Bengaluru from March 2019. Eligibility: Applicant should hold a BE/ B.Tech. or MSc with Mathematics and should have learned Programming at college level. Final year students are also eligible to apply.

Sign languages aren't easy to learn and are even harder to teach. They use not just hand gestures but also mouthings, facial expressions and body posture to communicate meaning. A new machine-learning model developed by a West Virginia University student has the potential for energy, environmental and even healthcare applications. The model, which can be used to predict the adsorption energies, i.e. adhesive capabilities in gold nanoparticles, was developed by Gihan Panapitiya, a doctoral physics student from Sri Lanka. Gold nanoparticles have historically been used by artists to bring out vibrant colors via their interaction with light. Now they are increasingly used in high technology applications, electronic conductors and others. "Machine learning recently came into the spotlight, and we wanted to do something linking machine learning with gold nanoparticles as catalysts," he said.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad is introducing a new B. Tech. It is the first such full-fledged B. Tech. Even internationally, only select institutions like Carnegie Mellon University and Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are currently offering similar courses, claimed IIT Hyderabad in a press release. According to a report in NDTV, the B.Tech. in Artificial Intelligence course will intake 20 students each year, who will be selected through the JEE Advanced entrance examination that the students across the country take every year to get admission in the graduate courses at the IITs. Commenting on the new course, Prof U.B. Desai, Director, IIT Hyderabad, said, "The basic aim is to create a complete ecosystem for Artificial Intelligence Academics and Research at IIT Hyderabad. Moreover, the R&D will be strongly entwined with academics."

Hyderabad: A full-fledged B-Tech programme in Artificial Intelligence would be introduced by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad, from the coming academic year. Admission to the course with an intake of around 20 students would be through the JEE-Advanced, a release said here. IIT Hyderabad has become the first Indian Educational Institution to offer such a course in AI. The mission of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, IIT Hyderabad, is to produce students with a sound understanding of the fundamentals of theory and practice of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, it said. IIT Hyderabad is already offering an M-Tech course in Artificial Intelligence Machine Learning.

ABSTRACT: Most of mathematic forgetting curve models fit well with the forgetting data under the learning condition of one time rather than repeated. In the paper, a convolution model of forgetting curve is proposed to simulate the memory process during learning. In this model, the memory ability (i.e. the central procedure in the working memory model) and learning material (i.e. the input in the working memory model) is regarded as the system function and the input function, respectively. The status of forgetting (i.e. the output in the working memory model) is regarded as output function or the convolution result of the memory ability and learning material. The model is applied to simulate the forgetting curves in different situations. The results show that the model is able to simulate the forgetting curves not only in one time learning condition but also in multi-times condition. The model is further verified in the experiments of Mandarin tone learning for Japanese learners. And the predicted curve fits well on the test points.
