AI Techniques for Software Requirements Prioritization

The task of prioritization is the ranking and selection of requirements that should be included in future software releases. In this context, an intelligent prioritization decision support is extremely important. The prioritization approaches discussed in this paper are based on different Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques that can help to improve the overall quality of requirements prioritization processes.


Spatial Uncertainty-Aware Semi-Supervised Crowd Counting

The task of crowd counting in computer vision is to infer Semi-supervised approaches for crowd counting attract the number of people in images or videos. There is attention, as the fully supervised paradigm is expensive and an ever-increasing demand for automated crowd counting laborious due to its request for a large number of images techniques in various applications such as public safety, security of dense crowd scenarios and their annotations. This paper alerts, transport management proposes a spatial uncertainty-aware semi-supervised approach via regularized surrogate task (binary segmentation) for crowd counting problems. Different from existing semisupervised learning-based crowd counting methods, to exploit the unlabeled data, our proposed spatial uncertaintyaware teacher-student framework focuses on high confident regions' information while addressing the noisy supervision from the unlabeled data in an end-to-end manner. Specifically, we estimate the spatial uncertainty maps from the teacher model's surrogate task to guide the feature learning of the main task (density regression) and the surrogate task of the student model at the same time. Besides, we introduce a simple yet effective differential transformation layer to enforce the inherent spatial consistency regularization between the main task and the surrogate task in the student model, which helps the surrogate task to yield more reliable predictions and generates high-quality uncertainty maps. Thus, our model can also address the task-level perturbation problems that occur spatial inconsistency between the primary and surrogate tasks in the student model. Experimental results on four challenging crowd counting datasets demonstrate that our method achieves superior performance to the state-of-the-art semi-supervised methods. Georgia Tech Will Help Bring Critical Advancements to Online Learning as Part of Multimillion Dollar NSF Grant

Georgia Tech is a major partner in a new National Science Foundation (NSF) Artificial Intelligence Research Institute focused on adult learning in online education, it was announced today. Led by the Georgia Research Alliance, the National AI Institute for Adult Learning in Online Education (ALOE) is one of 11 new NSF institutes created as part of an investment totaling $220 million. The ALOE Institute will develop new AI theories and techniques for enhancing the quality of online education for lifelong learning and workforce development. According to some projections, about 100 million American workers will need to be reskilled or upskilled over the next decade. With the increase of AI and automation, said Co-Principal Investigator and Georgia Tech lead Professor Ashok Goel, many jobs will be redefined. "There will be some loss of jobs, but mostly we will see individuals needing to learn a new skill to get a new job or to advance their career," said Goel, a professor of computer science and human-centered computing in Georgia Tech's School of Interactive Computing (IC) and the chief scientist with the Center for 21st Century Universities (C21U).

Educators are at the ends of their ropes. So suggests a fall 2020 survey by RAND Corp., which found that a quarter of all teachers were thinking about leaving education. Remote learning and COVID-19 are partly to blame: More than half (57 percent) of teachers said they worked more hours per week during the pandemic than they did before it, according to RAND, and 80 percent reported feelings of burnout as a result. Even before COVID-19, however, former public-school teachers were struggling, and reported finding better pay, better work/life balance, more resources and a more manageable workload in jobs outside of education. "Part of the problem is that teachers spend a lot of time doing things that ... in their view are not the best and highest use of their time," says former teacher Jake Bryant, now a partner at management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., where he serves the company's education practice. "Nobody becomes a third-grade teacher because they love collecting permission slips and filling out attendance sheets.
