How schools in India are integrating AI in their curriculum
To prepare the future workforce to live and thrive in a society where this piece of technology is so fundamentally ingrained, several schools are now offering age and level appropriate training in artificial intelligence. Leading education body CBSE has taken the lead in introducing AI in the school curriculum. They have developed an integrated curriculum, and AI as an elective subject is already being implemented in classes 8-10. Other schools, particularly the ones affiliated with the International Baccalaureate (IB), have also been proactive in giving their students ample exposure to AI. Analytics India Magazine spoke to a few school principals and heads to understand the trend better. Many educational institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, teaching CBSE syllabus, have already introduced AI to their students.
Solving (Some) Formal Math Olympiad Problems
We built a neural theorem prover for Lean that learned to solve a variety of challenging high-school olympiad problems, including problems from the AMC12 and AIME competitions, as well as two problems adapted from the IMO.[1] The prover uses a language model to find proofs of formal statements. Each time we find a new proof, we use it as new training data, which improves the neural network and enables it to iteratively find solutions to harder and harder statements. We achieved a new state-of-the-art (41.2% vs 29.3%) on the miniF2F benchmark, a challenging collection of high-school olympiad problems. Our approach, which we call statement curriculum learning, consists of manually collecting a set of statements of varying difficulty levels (without proof) where the hardest statements are similar to the benchmark we target.

When DeepMind's 'AlphaCode' Competed Against Human Programmers
Among at least a few programmers, this has already provoked some concern. Recently a programming student on Hacker News complained of "AlphaCode Anxiety" (as well as worries about GitHub's Copilot). "Now it feels like I'm running against a clock until the career I am working very hard for will automate itself away," the student wrote. When a blog post at CodeForces declared "The future has arrived," one worried programmer even argued that "there is a limit to what humans should automate." The programmer added pointedly that the DeepMind developers who built AlphaCode "think that they are irreplaceable, but they would be the first ones to get replaced." But the fact that AlphaCode finished in the bottom half was also greeted with a very human disparagement. "AI is such a noob," the first commenter responded.
