You probably have a career. But hit the books for a graduate degree or take online certificate courses by night, and you could start a new career building on your past experience. Transfer learning is the same idea.

Among modern games, this is a unique approach to humor. This is because -- despite a veritable avalanche of games that take inspiration from the Souls-like genre, of which "Elden Ring" is the latest entry -- it's extremely hard to pull off. Gamers, generally speaking, want to feel empowered while they're playing. They do not want to be belittled and laughed at. Even games that lean into that sort of humor -- for example, Valve's 2007 comedy master class "Portal" -- do so with writing, pairing characters' mocking words with a generally smooth upward gameplay progression for players.

Modern educational systems have not really evolved enough to meet the needs of modern students.21 No wonder, the percentage of dropouts from university studies is quite high (40% in the U.S. and 10% in Europe7,9). The university student profile has changed over the years. While yesterday's students were mainly full-time, today's students face challenges such as work commitments, family obligations, financial constraints, physical impairments, and learning models that do not adequately engage students or help them understand core concepts.11 One might think that this issue concerns only those who fail to complete their studies, but this is view is shortsighted. Today's educational system deficiencies will affect the welfare of tomorrow's society. To improve current learning models, academic institutions around the world agree that the time has come to improve the world of education, moving from a traditional approach--where learning is standardized and available only to those with access to educational buildings--to a new paradigm that enables students to personalize their educational pathway, so they can progress at their own pace.19,21

According to IBM, finding and hiring staff with the right mix of skills and experience is a painstaking process. Around 69 percent of organisations struggle to recruit quality candidates, an Accenture study showed. "Good data scientists are good at solving word problems," said Nitesh Shende, data science lead at Porter. He said most data scientists struggle to situate machine learning models in a business context. "The ability to identify where and which data science techniques to use will only come through case studies," said Shende.

While AI-powered technologies have been around for a while in EdTech, the sector has been sluggish in their acceptance. The pandemic, on the other hand, radically altered the scene, pushing educators to rely on tech for virtual instruction. Now, 86 percent of educators believe that technology should be an integral element of education. AI has the potential to improve both learning and teaching, assisting the education industry, simultaneously evolving to benefit both students and teachers.

Summer is always a good opportunity to explore new ideas, particularly ideas for boosting student engagement or perhaps taking some risks with trying something a bit different in our classrooms. The 2020-2021 school year has definitely been one full of changes and a time when we've had to become more flexible in our instruction to adapt to changing learning environments and conditions. Although it has been challenging, it has also provided a good opportunity for educators to embrace and create new learning experiences and design collaborative learning environments for students. It may have been a year with more technology used than in the past few years for some educators. As a Spanish and STEAM educator, I always look for innovative ideas or ways to bring emerging technologies into my classes.

Encouraging women in AI has never been more urgent. A study by the World Economic Forum noted a gender disparity of 78 percent male versus 22 percent female in AI and data science. It reflects a highly nuanced issue that goes beyond any single workplace and if not addressed will have highly negative implications for society. We have seen a lot of work to encourage girls and women to become interested in STEMand address gaps in digital skills at an earlier age than in the past. Yet now, there appears to be less effort to support women as they transition from higher education into a sustainable career in tech.
