Gartner states that its predictions "examine three fundamental effects of continued digital innovation", comprising experience and engagement, business innovation and secondary effects resulting from increased digital capabilities. By 2020, algorithms will positively alter the behaviour of more than 1 billion global workers: algorithms can positively alter human behaviour, augmenting human intelligence with the large collective memory bank containing knowledge that has been socialised and put to the test, with this to help workers "remember" anything or be informed of just-in-time knowledge they have never even experienced, leaving them to objectively complete the task at hand, while also better appreciating life as it unveils. Through 2020, IoT will increase data centre storage demand by less than 3 per cent: of the roughly 900 exabytes of data centre hard-disk drive and solid-state drive capacity forecast to ship in 2020, IoT discrete sensor storage will represent only 0.4 per cent, with storage from multimedia sensors consuming another 2 per cent, indicating IoT can scale and deliver important data-driven business value and insight while remaining manageable from a storage infrastructure standpoint. By 2020, 40 per cent of employees can cut their healthcare costs by wearing a fitness tracker: companies will increasingly appoint fitness program managers, working closely with human resource leaders, including fitness trackers in wellness programs as part of a broader employee engagement initiative.
deep-learning-startup-clarifai-raises-30-million
Clarifai, a startup providing an application programming interface (API) that offers a type of artificial intelligence (A.I.) known as "deep learning," is announcing a $30 million round of funding today. Beyond its core application programming interface (API) for image and video recognition, Clarifai has launched the Forevery photo storage app for iOS and recently introduced Custom Training and Visual Search services. To date, Clarifai has raised $41.25 million, including the $10 million round from last year.

A Sneak Peek at the Future of Artificial Intelligence & the Newest Trends in Machine Learning
Almost all the industries including manufacturing, healthcare, construction, online retail, etc. Machine learning technology is constantly evolving and the current trends in the field promise that every enterprise will be data driven and will have the capacity of using machine learning in the cloud to incorporate artificial intelligence apps. The three newest machine learning trends that will make this possible are Data Flywheels, The Algorithm Economy, and Cloud Hosted Intelligence. The coming age of artificial intelligence will include mining of medical records to provide better and faster health services.

While ARM introduced two minuscule processor architectures with security features borrowed from larger chips, Intel unveiled its Atom E3900 chips with improved computer vision and industrial-grade timing. They have four vector image processing units to perform video noise reduction, improve low-light image quality, and preserve more color and detail. For industrial uses, the E3900 series gets Intel's TCC (Time Coordinated Computing) technology. This feature lets the chip tightly control the timing of a device's actions.

The rise of AI is a cause for concern for humanity, with some experts even saying that it could be more devastating than the nuclear bomb. However, if Sofia the robot is anything to go by, we have nothing to worry about. Developed by Hanson Robotics, the extremely lifelike machine was recently on show at the Global Sources Electronics show in Hong Kong, where she interacted with passers-by and even cracked a few jokes. As it stands, Sofia has 62 facial and neck mechanisms to give her that realistic human look, with cameras in the eyes that are capable of facial recognition.

Earlier Tuesday, Uber announced the first successful run of one of its self-driving freight trucks, developed by San Francisco-based company Otto. The truck, designed by Otto, successfully completed a 120-mile journey between Fort Collins, Colorado and Colorado Springs, Colorado, delivering 2,000 cases of Budweiser beers with nary an issue along its journey on Interstate 25. So what's the deal with Otto, the company acquired by Uber in August, driving (pun intended) this push of self-driving technology? When it launched, Otto estimated that the price of its autonomous drive system would be a "small fraction" of the 100,000 to 200,000 price tag of a brand-new semi truck.
DeepMind's new computer can learn from its own memory
DeepMind, an artificial intelligence firm that was acquired by Google in 2014 and is now under the Alphabet umbrella, has developed a computer than can refer to its own memory to learn facts and use that knowledge to answer questions. DeepMind says its new AI model, called a differentiable neural computer (DNC), can be fed with things like a family tree and a map of the London Underground network, and can answer complex questions about the relationships between items in those data structures. For example, you could get responses to questions like, "Starting at Bond street, and taking the Central line in a direction one stop, the Circle line in a direction for four stops, and the Jubilee line in a direction for two stops, at what stop do you wind up?" It's these networks that helped DeepMind's AlphaGo AI defeat world champions at the complex game of Go.
