SwarmFarm Robotics Successfully Covers One Million Acres of Farming with Autonomous Robots
SwarmFarm Robotics, the leader in Integrated Autonomy for agriculture, announced today that it crossed a significant milestone by successfully covering one million acres, 55,000 hours of operation, and has reduced pesticide inputs by an estimated 580 tons with its autonomous robots. These figures set SwarmFarm apart as the sole leader in a farmer-led movement that is happening whether operators are along for the ride - or not. A recent article published by Precision Farming Dealer stated that Raven Technologies had accumulated 8,000 hours of operational time, covering 69,000 acres. The same piece cited Blue-White Robotics as completing 10,000 hours of safe operation, and Monarch tractor with 1,300 operating hours. "We are excited to hear people talking more and more about the future of autonomy in agriculture - it's great for our category," said Andrew Bate, CEO of SwarmFarm Robotics.
TUM succeeds in program for young Artificial Intelligence talents
In the future the "Konrad Zuse School of Excellence in Reliable Artificial Intelligence", where TUM is represented by Prof. Stephan Gรผnnemann, will address the foundations of reliable of Artificial Intelligence, its utilization in critical application areas and the resulting societal implications. Research and teaching takes place in close partnership with LMU and in particular Prof. Gitta Kutyniok as co-director of the School. The network also includes international AI centers, non-university research organizations and over 15 industrial partners. Prof. Gรผnnemann said: "We are opening up excellent career paths to talented young researchers from around the world. They can use the program to establish themselves in the academic world or to put the topic of Artificial Intelligence into industrial application. Here reliable Artificial Intelligence plays a prominent role, especially for Germany as a location for innovation which will profit greatly from the creativity and expertise of the talented young people being educated."
DeepMind found the structure of nearly every protein known to science
DeepMind is releasing a free expanded database with its predictions of the structure of nearly every protein known to science, the company, a subsidiary of Google parent Alphabet, announced today. DeepMind transformed science in 2020 with its AlphaFold AI software, which produces highly accurate predictions of the structures of proteins -- information that can help scientists understand how they work, which can help treat diseases and develop medications. It first started publicly releasing AlphaFold's predictions last summer through a database built in collaboration with the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL). That initial set included 98 percent of all human proteins. Now, the database is expanding to over 200 million structures, "covering almost every organism on Earth that has had its genome sequenced," DeepMind said in a statement.
AITX Announces Updated Plans for Robotic Security and Inspection Dog
Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions, Inc. along with its wholly owned subsidiary Robotic Assistance Devices, Inc. (RAD) announced revisions to its plans and positioning for a robotic dog for the security services, logistics, utilities, and property management industries. "We're seeing a larger and more cost-conscious market emerge for a RAD dog," said Steve Reinharz, CEO of AITX and RAD. "These market conditions have prompted our team to revise plans and develop a new dog, one that we are naming'CASSIE'. We are now going to bring an entry-level priced'junkyard dog' to market, loaded with all the AI power that RAD has developed over the years." CASSIE (Crawling Autonomous Safety Security Inspection Equipment) is the latest officially announced addition to the RAD family of robotic security and safety solutions and marks the Company's second mobile robot.
Tata Steel Signs MoU With Startup For Drone-Based Mining Solutions
Domestic giant Tata Steel on Wednesday said it has inked a pact with a Bengaluru-based startup for drone-based mining solutions for effective mine management. The primary goal of this collaboration is to jointly develop and offer sustainable and end-to-end integrated solutions that will focus on efficiency, safety, and productivity of open cast mining operations. "Tata Steel has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aarav Unmanned Systems, a Bangaluru-based startup, providing end-to-end drone solutions... for effective mine management," the company said in a statement. Tata Steel will also work jointly with AUS to provide exclusive drone-based solutions, including mine analytics and geo-technical mapping, to Tata Steel group companies across mining locations in India, it said. On the partnership, D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President, Raw Materials, Tata Steel, said: "Drone survey enabled digitalisation and other technology will assist in gathering impactful and actionable insights. We see enormous potential in redefining core mining processes such as exploration and mine planning using drone data and adequate analytics."
Viz.ai, Hyperfine partner on new MRI, workflow paradigm
Viz.ai announced today that it partnered with Hyperfine (Nasdaq:HYPR) to bring magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to the patient's bedside. San Francisco-based Viz.ai develops the Viz LVO, its flagship product designed to leverage advanced deep learning to communicate time-sensitive information about stroke patients straight to a specialist who can intervene and treat the patient. Hyperfine develops Swoop, which it said is the world's first MR imaging system capable of providing neuroimaging at the point of care, expanding patient access to MRI by bringing imaging to the bedside. Swoop offers a way for physicians to make quick and informed clinical decisions for patients, eliminating hours of wait and transport time, reducing the potential for adverse events associated with transporting critically ill patients. According to a news release, the partnership and subsequent implementation into neuro ICUs provide the potential to further decrease the time from admission to treatment by expanding clinician access to MRI and increasing access to time-critical diagnostics in multiple phases of care.
