PointPredictive launches income validation tool fueled by machine learning
Verifying income can be an expensive process for finance companies; one where the cost can become even steeper if the contract holder falls into delinquency and is eventually charged-off because the individual didn't have steady enough money to support monthly payments. PointPredictive is looking to help finance companies avoid both of those scenarios with its latest tool as the Emerging 8 firm recently announced the general availability of IncomePASS. The company explained the solution can offer a real-time assessment of an applicant's stated income to allow highly accurate clearing of validated incomes. PointPredictive believes its tool can enable finance companies using costly paycheck stub manual reviews across their portfolio to drastically reduce their expenses while improving the overall accuracy of their income validation efforts to stop defaults. "Traditional legacy tools are expensive and provide incomplete coverage," PointPredictive chief executive officer Tim Grace said in a news release.
Io-Tahoe Named a Leader in the Use of Artificial Intelligence for Data Management by Enterprise Management Associates (EMA)
Io-Tahoe, a pioneer in Smart Data Discovery and AI-Driven Data Catalog products, in its efforts to continue to transform the data discovery market, today announced it has been named a Leader in the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for data management in a new research report and decision guide from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA). The research report, which names Io-Tahoe a Leader, says companies which deploy AI-enabled analytics and data management solutions can potentially save up to $5,000,000 a year. EMA research also finds that they can create more value through enhancements such as increased speed of innovation; the report claims that 83 per cent of the companies surveyed are already seeing cost savings, along with a significant reduction in annual person-hours required to complete analysis of the data. "AI enablement signifies a major shift from passive to active use of metadata," said John Santaferraro, EMA's Research Director, Analytics, Business Intelligence, and Data Management. "The passive use of metadata focused on definitions and documentation, while the active use of metadata focuses on the delivery of services, such as data cataloguing, data governance, data discovery, and master data services."

GE's health unit wins first FDA clearance for A.I.-powered X-ray system
The Food and Drug Administration has cleared a new artificial intelligence-powered X-ray device that maker GE Healthcare says reduces the time to detect a collapsed lung from eight hours to as little as 15 minutes, the company announced Thursday. The device, called the Critical Care Suite, uses AI algorithms to scan X-ray images and detect pneumothorax, a deadly condition more commonly known as a collapsed lung that affects roughly 74,000 Americans each year. "The health-care industry is producing huge amounts of data from images to digital health records," GE Healthcare CEO Kieran Murphy said in an interview with CNBC ahead of the announcement. "We strongly believe that you have to turn that data into information and insight to improve outcomes." GE Healthcare, a dominant player in hospital and lab equipment, said its goal is to integrate AI into every aspect of the health-care system to ultimately "improve patient outcomes, reduce waste and inefficiencies, and eliminate costly errors."
