Applitools Integrates Testing Platform With GitHub - DevOps.com

#artificialintelligence

Applitools announced today that its test automation tools have been integrated with GitHub and GitHub Actions in addition to being available on the Microsoft Visual Studio App Center. Company COO Moshe Milman said these integrations make it possible to add testing tools that incorporate machine learning algorithms, dubbed Visual AI, to a DevOps workflow using the Applitools Eyes testing platform. Those tests are run on a cloud platform dubbed Ultrafast Grid. The goal is to make it possible to easily correlate code changes across different versions of updates to web and mobile applications using any testing framework and programming language, said Milman. Visual AI can now be applied to every build and pull request, he noted.

Apple reportedly bought a video AI startup for $50 million as it tries to improve Siri and other apps

#artificialintelligence

Apple added to its rapidly growing artificial intelligence portfolio earlier this year by acquiring Spain-based AI video startup Vilynx for approximately $50 million, Bloomberg reported Tuesday. Vilynx, headquartered in Barcelona, built software that leverages computer vision to analyze a video's visual, text, and audio content with the goal of "understanding" what's in the video, which helps it categorize and tag metadata, generate automated video previews, and recommend related content, according to an earlier version of its website. Apple told Bloomberg that it "buys smaller technology companies from time to time and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans," but the company could potentially use Vilynx's technology to help improve a variety of apps. Siri, search, Photos, and other apps that rely on Apple being able to accurately organize and surface information are possible candidates, as are Apple TV, Music, News, and other apps that use recommendation engines to present users with related content. CEO Tim Cook has repeatedly talked up the potential of augmented reality as well, which could also make use of AI-based tools like Vilynx.

Flippy robots will cook sliders in 10 more White Castle locations

Engadget

The companies announced their collaboration back in July, just as restaurants were forced to limit staff to ensure social distancing while keeping up with the increasing demand for delivery and take out orders due to the coronavirus pandemic. Back in September, they formally started a pilot program to test Flippy at one White Castle location, and the machine has helped serve 14,580 pounds of food and over 9,720 baskets since then. The burger chain will install the commercially available version of Flippy ROAR that was launched earlier this month into its kitchens. It expects Flippy to free up time for human staff members, so they can take care of logistics and customer service, and to help keep 24-hour locations running. The ChefUI software that powers Flippy can also be integrated with delivery apps to sync an order's completion with its pick-up time. Meanwhile, the machine's sensors and cameras can keep eye on inventory and recommend bulk orders for supplies when needed.

Neo4j Announces First Graph Machine Learning for the Enterprise

#artificialintelligence

Until now, few companies outside of Google and Facebook have had the AI foresight and resources to leverage graph embeddings. This powerful and innovative technique calculates the shape of the surrounding network for each piece of data inside of a graph, enabling far better machine learning predictions. Neo4j for Graph Data Science version 1.4 democratizes these innovations to upend the way enterprises make predictions in diverse scenarios from fraud detection to tracking customer or patient journey, to drug discovery and knowledge graph completion. Caption: Graph embeddings are a powerful tool to abstract the complex structures of graphs and reduce their dimensionality. This technique opens up a wide range of uses for graph-based machine learning.

Artificial intelligence: Presidency issues conclusions on ensuring respect for fundamental rights

#artificialintelligence

The Presidency of the Council issued presidency conclusions on the charter of fundamental rights in the context of artificial intelligence and digital change. The text was supported or not objected to by 26 delegations. These conclusions are designed to anchor the EU's fundamental rights and values in the age of digitalisation, foster the EU's digital sovereignty and actively contribute to the global debate on the use of artificial intelligence with a view to shaping the international framework. The Presidency conclusions focus on a fundamental-rights based approach to artificial intelligence and provide guidance on dignity, freedoms, equality, solidarity, citizens' rights and justice.

Parliament leads the way on first set of EU rules for Artificial Intelligence

#artificialintelligence

The European Parliament is among the first institutions to put forward recommendations on what AI rules should include with regards to ethics, liability and intellectual property rights. These recommendations will pave the way for the EU to become a global leader in the development of AI. The Commission legislative proposal is expected early next year. The legislative initiative by Iban García del Blanco (S&D, ES) urges the EU Commission to present a new legal framework outlining the ethical principles and legal obligations to be followed when developing, deploying and using artificial intelligence, robotics and related technologies in the EU including software, algorithms and data. It was adopted with 559 votes in favour, 44 against, and 88 abstentions.

Aidoc's 6th FDA clearance for AI Solution

#artificialintelligence

Aidoc announced today that the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has given regulatory clearance for the commercial use of its triaging and notification algorithms for flagging and communicating incidental pulmonary embolism . Flagging incidental, critical findings is a huge technical challenge due to the varied imaging protocols used and lower incidences of such cases. The ability to prioritize incidental critical conditions accurately is a breakthrough in the value AI can bring to the radiologist workflow. "The most common use case we experienced is for critical unsuspected findings in oncology surveillance patients" said Dr. Cindy Kallman, Chief, Section of CT at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. "The ability to call the referring physician while the patient is still in the house is huge. We are essentially offering a point-of-care diagnosis of PE for our outpatients. Our referring physicians have been completely wowed by this."

AI Service Transformed Thousands Of Women's Photos Into Fake Nudes Without Consent

#artificialintelligence

A computer tool led to the creation of thousands of fake nude photos of women -- some of them underage -- without their consent that were then uploaded to the messaging app Telegram, The Washington Post reported. Sensity, a visual threat intelligence company headquartered in Amsterdam, discovered the Telegram network. There are 101,080 members in the network, and 70% of the group resides in Russia or Europe. About 104,852 images derived from pictures of more than 680,000 women were posted publicly to the app, with 70% of the photos coming from social media or private sources. A small number of victims appeared to be underage.
