#artificialintelligence

No matter how many books you read, tutorials you finish or problems you solve, there will always be a data set you might come across where you get clueless. Specially, when you are in your early days of Machine Learning. In this blog post, you'll learn some essential tips on building machine learning models which most people learn with experience. These tips were shared by Marios Michailidis (a.k.a Kazanova), Kaggle Grandmaster, Current Rank #3 in a webinar happened on 5th March 2016. The key to succeeding in competitions is perseverance. Marios said, 'I won my first competition (Acquired valued shoppers challenge) and entered kaggle's top 20 after a year of continued participation on 4 GB RAM laptop (i3)'. How Artificial Intelligence Will Change Everything

#artificialintelligence

Artificial intelligence is shaping up as the next industrial revolution, poised to rapidly reinvent business, the global economy and how people work and interact with each other. Andrew Ng, chief scientist at Chinese internet giant Baidu Inc. and co-founder of education startup Coursera, and Neil Jacobstein, chair of the artificial intelligence and robotics department at Silicon Valley think tank Singularity University, sat down with The Wall Street Journal's Scott Austin to discuss AI's opportunities and challenges. What is Baidu focused on? NG: For large enterprises like Baidu, AI creates two big pockets of opportunities. One is our core business.

Mamoru Oshii On Directing The Original 'Ghost In The Shell' Anime Movies And Enjoying 'Fallout 4'

Forbes - Tech

There are very few writers and directors like Mamoru Oshii. Having worked in both live action and animation, he has been a pioneering figure in both. What with Ghost in the Shell receiving a lot of attention as of late, I thought it best to discuss some of his work with the man himself. For most viewers of anime, Oshii is known for his early work on things like Urusei Yatsura and Patlabor. However, he is arguably more widely known for directing the 1995 anime movie adaptation of Ghost in the Shell and its subsequent sequel.

Will artificial intelligence deliver an android that works as your personal assistant?

#artificialintelligence

I'm a huge fan of the original "Alien" franchise, largely because of Sigourney Weaver's performance and the crucial part technology plays in its lore. Not only does this tech allow humans to traverse immense distances to reach alien-infested worlds, but it provides them with androids: perfect robotic assistants so advanced that it's extremely difficult to distinguish them from human crew. In fact, they're superior to their human companions in many aspects, from their superhuman strength to their refined motor skills. As a part of promoting the upcoming sci-fi horror film "Alien: Covenant," (in theaters May 19), 21st Century Fox unit FOX, 1.34% Twentieth Century Fox released its branded short film "Meet Walter," starring Michael Fassbender. It introduces Walter, the latest synthetic android, with intelligence powered by AMD's AMD, -0.85% Ryzen and Radeon processors and manufactured by the film's fictional corporation, Weyland-Yutani.

In the consumer report, we are number one once again and just like the Q7, in the consumer report it also occupies the first position as the best luxury SUV. And I think this power of the brand makes it possible for us to grow significantly. There are couple of models which have not even be launched yet in this market, models which we already know here, for instance the S4, the A5, and the entirely new A5 Sportback. They are now being launched in the United States. All new models for this market, and I assume that this year once again we are going to experience very solid growth in the United States. And the question so whether we spend more money for this? I can tell you we even spend less money in form of sales discounts because of the powerful brand and the relatively young product portfolio. So you would take the second part?

Kim Stanley Robinson Interview: 'Aurora' And The Future Of Space Travel

International Business Times

Kim Stanley Robinson, one of the grandmasters of modern science fiction, released a new book on March 14: New York 2140. It's a sprawling adventure story/political drama/slice of life story set in New York City after climate change sends sea levels surging more than 50 feet--drowning Lower Manhattan and transforming a city of gridlike streets into a city of canals, a Super-Venice. We spoke extensively with Robinson about the book--check it out here. But we also spoke with the esteemed author about his last book, Aurora, and the big ideas behind it--from the present state and near future of space travel to what could happen when humanity does reach the stars. Aurora is set a hearty seven centuries or so from now, on an interstellar colony ship heading toward Tau Ceti. Heavily rooted in real science and realistic future science, the book takes a dramatic turn halfway through--one that left many SF fans gasping.

13 ways AI will change your life

#artificialintelligence

From helping you take care of email to creating personalized online shopping experiences, AI promises to transform the way we live and work. But with all the hype out there, how do we know which benefits we'll actually see? Gary Vaynerchuk was so impressed with TNW Conference 2016 he paused mid-talk to applaud us. What is the top benefit you predict emerging from AI, and do you think the overall benefits will live up to the hype? The greatest benefit of AI -- which is already emerging -- is the elimination of repetitive tasks.

Tapping the Potential of AI in Health Data Security

#artificialintelligence

The ability of artificial intelligence to look for patterns in vast volumes of data - including large collections of unstructured data, which are commonly found in the healthcare sector - is presenting new potential ways for bolstering the security of patient information, says AI expert Navin Budhiraja of outsourcing vendor Infosys. "The nature [of healthcare data], how rapidly new [challenges] are appearing and how large and complex those systems are becoming, are making the security problems very, very hard," he says in an interview with Information Security Media Group. "So, how do you look at very large amounts of data - not necessarily knowing what you're looking for - and still actually try to find interesting patterns in there around who's accessing what; is their behavior expected or anomalous, and so on? I think the traditional ways of doing security, like where you have an anti-virus system or a particular way your firewall is configured because those are the best practice, are no longer applicable because of this complex IT environment," he says. "And those are exactly the kinds of challenges AI is very good at."
