The chip has been used to control an autonomous bicycle, but one day it might power self-driving cars and smart robots. Shi Luping at Tsinghua University in China and his colleagues made the chip with hardware based on the structure of the human brain that can run two types of algorithm.

We recently had a chance to play and record video of the first few hours of the full game-length "Iceborne" expansion during a visit to Capcom's U.S. headquarters in San Francisco a few days ago. The test build we tried out remains a work in progress and we weren't allowed to show equipment loadouts, new jewels and mods or go too in-depth about monster weaknesses for spoiler reasons.
Joining the Dots using a Machine Learning Approach
In the space of literally a few weeks, I encountered a handful of interesting problems in the field that at first blush I considered to be edge cases but on closer inspection have determined are something that businesses do and have problems with, but consider dealing within a variety of ways. In one instance the problem is trying to determine the country from what is essentially an unstructured address using a lookup list of countries. The problem that needed to be solved is that you have data that is effectively a contiguous string of unstructured data and you want to determine perhaps the country from that data in order to either Address Match or filter your records. Most products that are used for data preparation will support being able to do this, but in this instance, I will use Experian's Aperture Data Studio to achieve the goal. A basic approach is to simply use an extract Matches function within the Transform step and derive the country to a new column using a transform.

Intel plans a big future for deep learning on every platform
In acquiring Vertex.AI for its Movidius unit, Intel is envisioning a tomorrow where deep learning will feature in many aspects of business. Chip giant Intel has acquired Vertex.AI, a Seattle start-up that is developing deep learning for every platform. The start-up will join the Movidius group, which is focused on self-learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technology on a myriad of devices. Intel acquired Movidius in 2016 for an undisclosed sum, rumoured to be in the region of $300m. This was part of a $1bn spending spree on AI tech companies, including Mighty AI, DataRobot, Lumiata, AEye and others.
Computer Vision Identifies Tumors in Liver Scans
Fijoy Vadakkumpadan is a father of twins, a programmer, and a computer vision expert. Fijoy credits ultrasound technology with helping to deliver his twins safely, and he hopes his work applying computer vision to medical imaging will have the same positive effect on others' lives in the future. Currently, his team is using computer vision object detection to detect tumors in CT scans of livers. The work is expected to save hundreds of hours for radiologists at a university hospital in Amsterdam, and be more accurate than the manual method used before. Anagog wins X5 Retail-Tech Challenge
Israeli retail analytics insight company Anagog has won the X5 Retail-Tech Challenge competition for retail innovation. The competition was held this week in Tel Aviv by the Israel-Russia Chamber of Commerce, for the X5 retail group, Russia's largest retail chain. Anagog's management are traveling to Moscow to make a pitch to the retail chain's senior executives for a major contract from the chain. Evigence Sensors finished second in the competition and Varcode and Tarritech tied for third place. Anagog was founded in 2010 by Gil Levy and Yaron Aizenbud.
AI Enlisted to Track Complex Chemical Interactions in People
If you like multi-variant statistics, then you're going to love what Melissa Strong, PhD., is doing at IndiOmics, the biotechnology company she founded to gain a greater understanding on how chemicals interact with -- and possibly harm โ people that come into contact with them every day. For starters, there are about 84,000 chemicals registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), according to Strong. From sunscreens and pesticides to plasticizers and hardeners, the average American contains within their body a unique chemical cocktail brewed from their specific path through this world. Factor in different genetics, medical histories, and environmental factors, and you have the sort of combinatorial explosion that is unworkable in the traditional scientific sense. "It's never only X and Y," Strong says.
Computer vision AI looks beyond the narrow into the mainstream
Computer vision is still an emerging technology for businesses. But in September 2018, Gartner analyst Bern Elliot included computer vision in a list of enterprise AI technologies that organizations should at least be experimenting with, particularly in combination with machine learning and deep learning algorithms. Amsterdam UMC, which operates two teaching hospitals in the Netherlands, is doing just that. It has started using a computer vision AI application running in a SAS Institute Inc. analytics system to measure the size of liver tumors in colorectal cancer patients. The automated medical-image analysis is faster and more accurate than manual measurements by radiologists, according to Geert Kazemier, a surgery professor and director of surgical oncology at Amsterdam UMC.
